Last week, we shared the latest version of the RTX Remix Mod for the original Need for Speed: Underground. And today, we’re excited to share a new version of a similar mod for its sequel. Need for Speed: Underground 2 RTX Remix Mod v0.4 is now available for download and comes with numerous improvements. So, let’s dive in.
Version 4.0 brings lots of new updates to the game. All traffic vehicles now have new 3D models, except for the delivery truck, which will be added later. There are also many new textures for sidewalks, walls, grass areas, and things you see on the side of the road. The modder, UncleBurrito, also updated all the traffic lights and many road signs to look better.
And that’s not all. This new version changes the guardrail reflectors so that they won’t glow white. It also has new skyboxes that were created from scratch. As such, the game will now swap between dawn and night like the original. Plus, the modder added new lights to light fixtures, world assets, and new headlights for all player vehicles.
In this new version of the mod, neon lights will finally work, and the cars will have shiny, reflective surfaces. The fog and lighting effects also look much better now, thanks to Froxel Radiance Cache. The mod now supports Intel XeSS, just like DLSS. There’s also improved lighting (called GI) using something called Neural Radiance Cache. On top of that, the mod now works with RTX Ray Reconstruction for even better graphics.
All in all, this is a huge update for the RTX Remix Mod of NFS: Underground 2. Those interested can download it from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a new video. This video showcases some of its features, so be sure to watch it.
These past couple of days, we’ve shared a lot of RTX Remix Mods. So, you can find similar mods for Black Mesa, Star Wars Republic Commando, Star Wars Jedi Outcast, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines.
In January 2024, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Then, in February 2024, we shared videos for Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Unreal, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Midnight Club 2. Be also sure to check out some early RTX Remix videos and screenshots for Fallout: New Vegas, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, COD 2, and Half-Life.
Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders released demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for NFS: Underground 2, Painkiller, and Left 4 Dead 2. Oh, and don’t forget to try this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. In September 2024, we also shared a new version of the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne. Lastly, you can download these amazing Path Tracing Mods for Doom, Doom 2, Quake, and Serious Sam.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Still a long way to go compared to the first game! But it's looking promising.
Also, off-topic, but John, since you wrote recently an article about Mario Kart 64 for PC, maybe you'll be interested in taking a look at "The Karters 2: Turbo Charged"? It just came out!
It's very similar to "Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled" and people seem to love it.

Then again, Switch emulation is now great and you can play CTR Nitro-Fueled with Eden emulator perfectly.🤔(and all its forks: Torzu, Sudachi, Sumi, etc.)
Good progress!
