Modder ‘arfa’ has released a new cool mod for Dark Souls Remastered. Dark Souls: The Fading Flame is a mod that will new bosses to the game, will overhaul its gameplay, and it will restore some cut content. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
The Fading Flame adds four entirely new bosses with new models and animations. It also remakes two from scratch with new models and animations. Plus, it reworks one boss with new attacks.
The mod will add seven new enemies with new models and animations. It will also improve some hitboxes in a few bosses. Players will find twenty new weapons (sixteen of them come with new animations). You will also get 7 new armor sets and 2 new helmets, 3 new spells, and 5 new miracles.
As mentioned, this mod also makes some changes to the gameplay. For example, hand-to-hand weapons now have new moves and animations. Backsteps now include invincibility frames, and you can kick enemies while jumping. Kicking a shield can now let you do a special counterattack on some enemies. The mod also changes covenants so they work offline and removes all online-only items. Whips have also been improved. Plus, you now only need a few types of upgrade materials like Dragon Scales, Twinkling Titanite, Regular Titanite, or Demon Titanite to upgrade your weapons.
In short, this is a must-have mod for all Dark Souls Remastered fans. This will change the way you play the game. So, make sure to try it for your second or third playthrough. You can download it from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a trailer for it.
Speaking of Dark Souls, I also suggest downloading the demo of Dark Souls: Nightfall. Nightfall is a complete fan-made sequel to Dark Souls with new bosses, combat mechanics, characters, and world design. Sadly, though, there is still no word on when it will fully come out.
Then we have this massive gameplay overhaul mod we shared in May 2023. This mod tweaked weapons, enemy AI, movesets, maps, stats, quests, and pretty much every single other aspect of the game. Dark Souls: Remastest V2.0 is another amazing mod that adds Halo: Combat Evolved weapons, new MP maps, special attacks, and more to the game. Plus, there is a mod that brings the armors from Dark Souls 2 to the game. Let’s also not forget the amazing Seamless Co-Op Mod.
Finally, you can use this mod to improve the game’s graphics. The mod adds dynamic shadows to every map. Additionally, it restores the PTDE lighting to every map. Not only that, but it upscales almost every texture, most of which are ported from PTDE. Plus, it generates new normal maps for most surfaces and adds parallax occlusion mapping to more surfaces. It also brings better water reflections and better distant geometry.
Have fun!
