Playnews – an independent news agency that focuses on the games industry – has informed us about an interesting statement from SEGA’s senior producer, Matthew J. Powers. According to the news, Aliens: Colonial Marines primary development has not been outsourced to TimeGate and Gearbox Software was not responsible just for the game’s multiplayer, Sega of America’s Senior Producer Matthew J. Powers confirmed to Playnews on Tuesday. Continue reading SEGA: Aliens: Colonial Marines SP was not outsourced to TimeGate Studios→

Ghost In The Shell and cyberpunk fans, rejoice. A new Ghost In The Shell game has been announced – thanks to Japanese website Gigazine – at a live event of the new GitS: Arise anime. Ghost In The Shell Online will be made by Nexon and will be set in the Stand Alone Complex universe. Needless to say how excited we are about this. As you may have guessed, this is a PC title but question remains: will Nexon port it to the Western market (there is a mention for a worldwide release, but who knows)? Each and every time I watch these retro isometric games, I keep asking myself why indie devs have not embraced and exploited this visual style. Am I the only one that finds this cute, cool and sexy? Nyah, can’t be. But anyway, Stardew Valley is an open-ended country-life RPG with support for up to 4-player co-op that blends together Minecraft with Harvest Moon. Back when Gearbox revealed the first gameplay footage of Aliens: Colonial Marines, I was a bit sceptic about it. The AI of Aliens looked horrible, there were lots of uninspired scripted events (and not in the same level with – let’s say – those of AVP2) and the graphics were average at best. Of course Gearbox stated back then that it was beta footage, but we all know that – in this time of age – beta footage equals to almost final footage. Fast forward a couple of months and here we are with an Aliens game that looks like a failure. Now this is really wonderful. Chris Taylor has just canceled the Kickstarter campaign of Wildman and George Broussard, Cliff Bleszinski and Notch decided to discuss whether or not the Kickstarter ‘magic’ is fading out. In fact, everything started by Bleszinski when he wondered whether Kickstarter is feeling ‘kind of… played out …lately‘ or not. And it’s gameover everyone. Chris Taylor has canceled the Kickstarter campaign of Wildman, only four days before its end. To be honest, this Kickstarter would not hit its $1.1 million goal as it has only raised $504K so far. According to the last update of Wildman, at this point, it makes sense for them to focus their attention on other ways to keep Gas Powered Games running. And since the Kickstarter has not met its goal, they felt that they should cancel it instead of witnessing its failure. Unfortunately, Gas Powered Games is unable to share any specifics in public about its current plans, though things are not looking good for them. We’ve included below one of the game’s videos to see what you’ll be missing! Continue reading Wildman Gets Canceled Four Days Before The End Of Its Kickstarter→

4Gamer.net has released some new tech demos from the amazing Luminous Engine. These new videos showcase some of the engine’s capabilities (like its particles system). The most impressive stuff (and perhaps the most boring for some) is the video with the bottle that shows off the refraction and reflection system that Square Enix’s engine supports. Okay, and the fireflies video is impressive and more interesting, so make sure to watch that first. Enjoy! Continue reading New Tech Demos Released For Square Enix’s Luminous Engine→
Man, a lot of Kickstarter campaigns seem to be slipping under our radar lately. Project Awakened is a new third-person game that is powered by Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 and is developed by Phosphor Games Studio. The team is currently building the prototype version with Unreal Engine 3, and there is an ongoing Kickstarter campaign for it. Phosphor Games Studio aims to raise $500K and there are 22 days until they hit this goal (currently the campaign has raised $100K).
