Someone is working on a fan remake of Super Mario 64 in Unreal Engine 4

Back in 2015, we shared a video showing Mario running around various maps in Unreal Engine 4. Created by aryoksini, this gave us an idea of what a modern-day Mario game could look like. Aryoksini decided to take his project to the next level, and is now attempting to remake Super Mario 64 in Unreal Engine 4.

A couple of days ago, aryoksini released a new video, showing the progress he has made on this fan-made remake. Super Mario 64 in Unreal Engine 4 now supports indirect shadows, realistic eye shaders and dynamic character LOD.

It will be interesting to see whether this project will ever see the light of day, or whether Nintendo will send aryoksini a C&D letter (especially now that the team is working on a new Mario game for the Nintendo Switch).

Enjoy!

  1. What the hell is with these idiot modders announcing these Nintendo projects years out? Makes me think they just want the PR.

    1. It sure does seem that way for some of them but this guy seems more committed than most so I’ll cut him some slack.

      1. I guess you’re right about once it’s on the internet it probably always will be but I imagine Nintendo could sue him anyway. On his youtube site aryoksini says he accepts donations from the public to support his work. I don’t know how that would look to a jury.

  2. Seriously. Why even post this? Giving free publicity to some aspiring dev?
If he really cared he would make something original. At the very least not something nintendo.

We all know he won’t get to finish it. Atleast if there was more of a game it would be worthwhile, this is just meh!

  3. FFS, Haven’t you learned anything, change models & textures and call it Incredible Plumber Man or something, or else C&D from Nintendo(nt) is imminent.
