Swiss Retailer Lists Battlefield 5 as a “tactical shooter in WW1”

Swiss retailer WOG.ch has listed Battlefield 5 as a tactical shooter that takes place in WW1. According to the retailer, Battlefield 5 will be released on October 25th and is coming on current-gen platforms only (PC and current-gen consoles).

Now as always, we strongly suggest taking this with a grain of salt. Electronic Arts had already stated that the next Battlefield game will be set in modern day, so this listing could very well be false.

For what is worth, the Swiss retailer has edited the game’s description (which now reads “multiplayer tactical shooter”).

So this was either an unintentional leak or a simple mistake. As we’ve already said, take it with a grain of salt!

  1. Yes!!! I love WWI so much!!! I heard it is using photogrammetry as well. Sounds like console gamers will need to settle for 720p to get 60fps gameplay.

    1. WTF? Photogrammetry has nothing to do with the power of hardware. It is simply a more realistic way to create assets by capturing them from real life. Photogrammetery is just as “performance intensive” as normal assets, they just look better. Consoles likewise will handle assets made with photogrammetry just as well as normal assets.

  2. Finally something different. Hopefully DICE will finally craft a good single player campaign and multiplayer won’t be just BF 4: WW1 Expansion.

      1. *It’s EA who cares about single-player.

Though there is also a standing (largely psychological) argument that “60$ for just Multiplayer is overpriced!” to many people, regardless of how bad the Campaign actually is.

  3. But that would mean no weapon customization, basically no rapid fire weapons, no helicopters and only slow, small tanks. WW1 was mostly fought in trenches so the maps wouldn’t be exciting either… I’d like to see a mainstream FPS without red dots, lasers and rapid fire but would the average Battlefield player at this point?

    1. I also agree with you.. .I do not think this is accurate. I could see WW2 way over WW1 unless this is some off-shoot not in cannon of actual history (which I doubt even more). My bet is another more modern setting, but could be wrong.

    2. Yeah, I agree, Battlefield is always advertised with over-the-topness and tons of “tacticool” gimmicks which are a juvenile magnet (lots of money coming from such audience). WWI setting can’t deliver those things. That’s why I don’t see this happening in the world of mainstream shooters.

  4. Bring me the next main BF game without technical and sever issues from DICE and i am ok.

i dont get it, we have problem with the setting because WW1 dont allow endless attatchments and other minor stuff?
If DICE wants, it will find a way to add “spice” to the game, just wait for the gameplay videos and then complain all you want.

  5. There’s no way nor even reason for a random retailer here (livin in Schweiz) to have such information about the game so early.
It could be some sort of placeholder or probably a mistake.
Also a WW1 BF would be suicide business wise and it would also be boring due to the limited amount of content.
