As we’ve already said, the appearance of Half Life 3 in Steam’s database confused us. After all, its title did not include the dash (something that was present in all previous Half Life games). And according to Valve’s Marc Laidlaw, that entry had nothing to do with Valve.
In order to find out whether this entry was legit or not, a fan emailed Marc Laidlaw and asked him whether he was able to clarify things. Marc Laidlaw replied, claiming that this entry had nothing to do with Valve, meaning that some other developer or publisher may have created it.
Theorists fans will say that Marc Laidlaw is simply trying to do some damage control after that leak. Truth be told, that entry name made it clear that something fishy was going on.
In short, Half Life 3 has not been confirmed yet. And to be honest, we don’t expect Half Life 3 to ever be released, especially after what happened during these past few years.
Here is hoping that Valve will surprise everyone and that it will, one day, reveal it.

That “leak” was deliberately placed there. If Valve is making HL3 you will never find in Steam database, especially under the name Half-Life. Just like GTA 5 was hiding under the name Shetland Pony.
Their codename should be “Totally not Half-Life 3”.
They can say what they want but… We all know the truth already:

The textureartist who made the textures for that phone knows it, he is part of the development team for the new ‘built from the ground up’ Source 2.0 engine, he knows, and this is his way of letting us know that HL3 is in the works.. Valve tries to deny it, but you can’t prevent little hints like this when so many people are involved in such a grand project as HL3.
I still got 1 of those lol, but the button thing is less tiresome so i went with that recently 😛 (for my basement phone lol)

1-) This is directly from Steam Database and entries to database aren’t handled by public so it is either from Valve or developers and 90% of SteamDB leaks got released except for few cases like halo 2,3 were it either was cancelled or plans changed
2-) There is no reason for square to put a game that is known to be a PS exclusive in Steam Database if there is no plans to release it outside PS so even if it was just a placeholder then that confirms that it is real and not fake , whether it will be released or not is another story
Valve has no reason to waste time and money creating Half Life 3, they’re living easy with Steam.

You know, great thing is that you as a “journalist” check your sources. It is not known wether it is Marc’s response at all, especially when he uses language that isn’t consistent with his previous emails…

valve are actively trying to kill the hype
I honestly dont expect a new Half Life game anymore. The hope is dead. At best we might see some Half Life themed item in Dota.. or CS. -_-

Im a huge Half Life fan and if they announce it ill start to care but yea.. you are right. I lost hope 1 year ago and at this point i dont even care anymore lol. Sad cuz i finished every Half Life game like 30 times. Even the oldest.
