  1. This should have federal funding! Make the good* guys the heroes of the story! GTA totally glorifies/ romanticizes cop-killing and crime.

    1. Dude, the thing is, Grand Theft Auto is itself a term for a type of crime? With a game that is known for doing whatever you want, and causing immense mayhem, do you think it would make sense for a good guy to be roaming around killing everyone?

Good guys in a GTA game will be something more along the lines of Sleeping Dogs or something.

    2. it doesn’t glorify anything, you have the option to do anything you want! if its in the mission to killbody cops its not glorifying its just the mission liek when its the mission to kill anybody else in the game.

          1. When you’re in the foundry, for one, and get rushed by SWAT teams and need to defend. Or how about when you’re in the FIB building? Unless there’s an option for you to just run away, but in the context of the game that’s not really an option.

          2. those are specific missions! with the objective to kill police, GTA as a series doesnt tell you the WHOLE game is about killing police or it’d be called Cop killing simulator!

          3. What? If the game forces you to kill cops then killing cops IS THE POINT. I never said GTA is only about one thing.

I’m not sure how you’re not understanding what I’m saying. I literally can’t say it any better without repeating myself.

      1. I’m not trolling at all, I’m just an adult. As an adult I know that just because I CAN do something that does not mean that action is justified. Sure, it’s legal to make a game where you’re rewarded for mass murdering cops, but is it right? I don’t think so.

Also as an adult I can call a duck a duck. Saying Grand Theft Auto doesn’t award you for breaking laws and murdering cops is like saying abortions aren’t about killing babies. If you can’t make that leap in logic then consider this: why is there no child-killing in games? It’s legal to do it – in America we’re Constitutionally protected, but it’s still considered taboo and socially abhorrent. Just think about that for a moment: it’s taboo to pretend to kill children in games but you can kill a newborn baby in real life and it’s legal as long as you say the magic words: ‘right to choose’. That baby certainly isn’t given a choice.

This world is so f**cked up.

          1. No, I’m just not offended by ancient terms that have no relevance in a modern world. You may as well have called me a pixilated jackanapes, ol’ chum.

          1. You say that as if I need lot to undermine your points in the first place. The simple fact is that countless scientific studies have proven that violent video games do not lead to real life violence, so even if you’re right about GTA glorifying cop killing, it doesn’t f’ing matter.

Furthermore, look at the readership of DSOG …most of us come here because they’re one of the few gaming sites left that doesn’t bother with political/moral grandstanding (an explicit choice, as mentioned in the editorial below).

You’ve derailed the comments section of a GTA mod article to an argument about abortion. How you feel that you’re morally better than the rest of us simply because you find a particular piece of fantasy entertainment offensive is beyond me.

My point being you’re not gonna find anyone who agrees with, or even cares about, the points you’re trying to make on this site. We come to a video game website because we want to read about/discuss video games. Again, go join the cunts at Kotaku or Polygon if you want to look down on those of us who aren’t so easily offended.

  2. Cool! 😀

Now just put a trailer with “Beastie Boys – Sabotage” and it would be perfect! xD
