MotoGamesTV has shared a video comparison between the rain weather effects of Project CARS and Driveclub. This video compares both the cockpit and the ‘behind_the_car’ viewpoints, giving us a proper idea of the differences between them. And while the ‘behind_the_car’ viewpoint of Project CARS looks great and ‘easier to the eye’, the cockpit view during a heavy rain in Driveclub is a beauty to behold (those ‘wind’ rain drop effects are spectacular). Here is hoping that Slightly Mad Studios will further enhance the game’s weather effects in order to rival those of Driveclub. Enjoy and kudos to our reader ‘beq-beq’ for bringing this to our attention!

“while the ‘behind_the_car’ viewpoint of Project CARS looks somehow better”
what? It never looks better in that comparison. I think it’s a game meant for heavy modding. It starts to look downgraded.
Even though Project Cars looks damn impressive, Driveclub ‘wipes’ the floor with it when it comes to weather effects. And it’s on a conslow.
comparing PcarS to DC is retarded since one is a simulator and the other is an arcade
PCarS seems more realistic with natural colors and white/black contrast while DC seems more saturated with higher contrast
both games look good respectively , PCarS wins most points for me but DC also looks fantastic on PS4
DC has sprite raindrops (Even Euro Truck 2 has 3D Drops) and uses filters and motion blur. PCARS’s doesn’t so it wins by not being a sickening 30FPS eyesore. PCARS has Dynamic water pooling. Driveclub is prebaked wet tracks.
Oh and PCARS has 3D foilage. Driveclub doesn’t.
Obvious who the winner is here. Hint: It’s the one that’s 60FPS
Correct, most of DriveClub’s rain effects are on the lens and not real time. You can very clearly see that in this video too. Poor dying Sony.
Insert troll comment about Sony, delete comment to hide name(and shame), rinse and repeat!
Jesus. Dont be such a crybaby.
People who own both platforms, OBVIOUSLY!
Where the F*CK you been bro, nic to have you back 😉
Money wasters, then since the PS4 has no games
Driveclub definitely has a more realistic looking weather effects.
lighting and weather effects in driveclub seems for me very good. And enviroment also more varied in Driveclub. Project Cars looks not bad, but it terms of gameplay Assetto Corsa overcome Pcars
The way the water slid and shifted on the camera lens and windscreen in DC looked impressive. PCARS could learn a thing or two.
Project Cars looks decent in vids I’ve seen so far, looking forward to seeing more. Having played Driveclub though, I can safely say those weather effects are literally the best I’ve seen in a videogame to date. And I’ve been playing since Atari 2600.
Gotta get those hits! Even if you’re recycling old articles from other sites!
Project Cars is not even out yet, still 3 months to go one it.
1.Sry ps4 fans but everything I read about this game (DC)they all talk about graphics but DC supposed to be a game not a benchmark tools
2.And for Pcar it even worse we see some pictures and we say omg dat graphics when we watch some trailer there huge different. And for Pcar if it require gtx 780 to run it rock solid 60fps then the game need more optimisation
3.asseto corsa sure it doesn’t look like dc or Pcar but its the only racing game that convince me to buy but asseto corsa lacks in content developers wants quality over quantity but lambo and audi r8 a5…
I didn’t wanted to poke the particular subject but, where are the ones that likes to boast the “gameplay>graphics” when it comes to discuss consoles x PC? 😉
to be honest DriveClub has the best rain/snow particles/effects to this date, every rain drop is a particle and lighting and blur applied to it. on the other hand gameplay is not good and frame rate is locked to 30fps which is not good for a racing game. PCars has a nice visuals and you can play it 60fps with a nice rig and i don’t know about it’s gameplay.
Yeah it’s a real beauty and I just loves the handling, perfect sim/arcadey for me but agree. That 30fps are as allways SH**TY. It makes an good game look ugly or should I say what look as half of the game just dissapears. 30 fps only looks good when you are standing still, like a picture ..LOL!
But other then those lovely weather effects it dont impress at all, looks like an PS3 game, rough and edgy :/
But thats to expect with the crappy hardware!
This game is a real beauty….
DC has water on the mirrors, PrC doesn’t. Odd.
DC has more water effects on the car, PrC doesn’t. At least I can’t see them.
PrC has a much better water splash effect from the road, but DC has a cooler tire track effect.
And PrC does a better job at water in general than DC does IMO but DC makes the water move in the direction of the cars movement which is impressive.
If they could take some of the features in DC and add them to PrC, that would be perfect.
I still think PrC looks better than DC.
The difference is huge! Looks a generational leap tbh. DC utterly destroys it in the graphics department. Its global illumination, car shaders, weather effects (best in a game yet, particle based that get proper illumination), and highly detailed tracks elevate it to a new level.
PCars has better modeled cars though (300 000 vs 250 000 polygons)
Still getting PCars in PC though, hope my gtx 970 can handle it on ultra at 60 fps.
Glorious ps4 master race!!
1080p/30fps glorious? LMAO. Also that shot is blurry.
Even infamous ss looks better than pcars.
Look at that crappy draw distance, 2D tree on the top right, poor shadow quality, blanked out windows in the cars LOL.
please use the same effects on project cars … project cars weather effects are what let it down
