Ubisoft has just released Title Update 1.0.8 for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced and shared its full patch notes. So, let’s see what this new patch brings to the table.
Patch 1.0.8 adds new ways to play, new rewards, and many bug fixes. Title Update 1.0.8 brings New Game+, a new Nightmare Mode, hidden chests, new takedown moves, and more items to unlock. It is the game’s final major content update, though smaller updates are still planned.
The biggest new feature is New Game+. Players can start Edward Kenway’s story again while keeping much of the gear and loot they have earned. This includes his tools, weapons, outfits, and upgrades. Players also keep the Jackdaw’s upgrades, pets, money, goods, and fleet ships. They keep their hideout progress, perks, and art, too.
Some things still need to be earned again. Officers must be hired once more, forts must be taken, and quest items are removed. The map also hides its locations again.
New Game+ gets harder with each run. Elite soldiers show up more often, and top-rank ships patrol the seas. Players can replay the game up to five times in this mode. Each run also adds a new type of money called Escudos. Players can earn it from tasks and old chests, then spend it on new outfits and items. They can also trade Reales for Escudos at the General Store.
Players who want a greater test can try Nightmare Mode. Foes hit harder, react faster, and leave less room for error. Enemy attacks deal 1.8 times more damage, and the window for parrying is shorter. The white flash that warns of enemy attacks is gone, too. Ranged foes also fire more often, and the game no longer saves players from a fatal hit.
Stealth is harder as well. Enemies spot Edward sooner and search for him for longer. They can hear him if he moves faster than a walk. To stay hidden above a foe, Edward must now be at least six meters higher.
Life at sea is more risky, too. All ships deal more damage. Sharks and harpooned animals hit harder, while sea urchins and jellyfish deal twice as much damage. The air supply also runs out faster when diving.
Update 1.0.8 adds hidden community chests across the game world. Some hold rewards that fans asked for. These chests are harder to find, with few hints to guide players.
The patch also brings back takedown moves from the first Black Flag. These include hidden blade kills, unarmed moves, single-sword kills, and gunblade takedowns. Players can also earn new outfits, pet skins, and trinkets by playing New Game+.
The update fixes many bugs across the game. Players should now be able to launch the game in offline mode if their server link drops while they play. Storms also have more rogue waves.
Other fixes cover fast travel, mini-games, the camera, gear, and map icons. The patch fixes a bug that could freeze the game during tavern games. It also fixes cases where fast travel worked before a viewpoint was synced. Other changes fix pistol looks, rope dart scenes, healing effects, and map icons that failed to update.
Combat and tools also get fixes. Edward should no longer get stuck aiming after taking a hit while in cover. The patch fixes issues with kills, tool use, and raising the sails after some quests. It also fixes cases where sleeping foes snapped back to their feet after a kill.
Patch 1.0.8 also improves sound, controls, and game stability. It fixes silent or muffled gunshots, a diving issue with certain keyboard settings, and problems with the world map that could lock controls. It also fixes a bug where the Jackdaw could still look damaged after repairs.
Many quest bugs are fixed, too. These changes address missing items, foes that failed to spawn, lost quest markers, and tasks that could not be finished. Some fixes also stop players from getting stuck during key missions or losing access to quest lines.
As always, Ubisoft Connect and Steam will download this update the next time you launch their clients. Those interested can also find its complete changelog here!
