Yesterday, I informed you about Demon’s Souls Remake running at 2FPS on the PlayStation 5 emulator, KyTyPS5. And, in just one day, the team behind it was able to improve performance by 800%. And no, that’s not an exaggeration. Demon’s Souls Remake can now run at 10-18 FPS.
I’m seriously blown away by what the KyTyPS5 team has achieved so far. I didn’t expect to see Demon’s Souls Remake hit 30 FPS on this emulator until 2027. However, things are moving much faster than I expected. At this rate, we might see it running at 30 FPS by the end of 2026.
It’s also worth noting that KyTyPS5 can run another PS5-exclusive game. This PS5 game is no other than Astro Bot. From what I know, this is the first time we see in-game footage of it.
Compared to Demon’s Souls Remake, Astro Bot suffers from major visual issues. On the other hand, performance seems to be similar. This game was running at 11 FPS on an Intel Core i3 10105F with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060.
So, right now, the triple-A PS5 games that can run on KyTyPS5 are GTA 5, Astro Bot, and Demon’s Souls Remake. We also have some indie games that can boot and go in-game, like Stray.
The bottom line is that things are looking really good for PS5 emulation. Some people claim that these huge performance gains are most likely due to AI-generated code. I don’t know if that’s true or if KyTyPS5 uses AI-generated code. What I do know is that we’re seeing tremendous progress. And, honestly, that’s what really counts at the end of the day.
If you want to experiment with the emulator, you can go ahead and download it from this link. Do note that this build is not yet available on GitHub. However, it will go live really soon.
Right now, I consider KyTyPS5 to be better than SharpEmu. For a long time, the best PS5 emulator was SharpEmu. But now, I believe KyTyPS5 has surpassed it. Still, if you also want to try SharpEmu, you can download it from here.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
