Modder ‘Kravickas’ has released a resolution patch for Driveclub, allowing PC gamers to enjoy it at 1440p, 4K, and even 8K resolutions. Not only that, but there is a 60FPS patch that you can use to unlock its framerate.
By using this resolution patch, PC gamers can finally get a great image quality in this PS4-exclusive racing game. It’s a shame Sony has turned its back on Driveclub. But man, the modding community has done everything PS5 fans have been dreaming of all these years.
You can go ahead and download the patch from here. To install it, you’ll have to follow this guide.
- Delete the ”*\ShadPS4\user\shader\dumps” folder if you have one
- In the ShadPS4 settings for Driveclub go to the ”Debug” tab and turn on ”Enable Shaders Dumping”
- In the ShadPS4 settings for Driveclub go to the ”Experimental” tab and turn off ”Enable Shader Cache” [Needs to be disabled for the patch to work for now]
- Run Driveclub, get to the main menu, then close the game
- In the ShadPS4 settings for Driveclub go to the ”Debug” tab and turn off ”Enable Shaders Dumping”
- Copy the files named ”Driveclub shader autopatcher” OR ”Driveclub shader autopatcher python” into the ”*\ShadPS4\user\shader” folder
- Run the ”Driveclub shader autopatcher.bat” OR ”Driveclub shader autopatcher python.bat”
- Open custom game settings file at ”*\ShadPS4\user\custom_configs\CUSA00003.json” and change “patch_shaders”: false, to “patch_shaders”: true, and save the changes
- [Use the file matching your region – CUSA00003, CUSA00064, CUSA00066, CUSA00093, CUSA00879]
- Copy Driveclub.xml into the ”*\ShadPS4\user\patches\shadPS4\ ”
- Enable resolution patches with memory patches and fix for wide resolutions if you are using one
- Run the game
YouTube’s ‘Unreal Gaming’ has shared a video, showcasing the benefits of this resolution patch. Compared to 1080p, 4K (and even 8K) looks sharper and – duh – less aliased. For instance, pay close attention at the road. At 1080p, it looks really blurry.
To play Driveclub on PC, you will need the shadPS4 emulator. Sony has not released the game for PC. The good news is that right now, shadPS4 does an excellent job of running it.
Now, as you will see in the video, the YouTuber used an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080. And although neither of them is being used to its fullest, the game cannot reach 60FPS. This means that there is still a CPU bottleneck that the devs need to fix. Perhaps better multi-core support will do the trick?
Anyway, this is really cool, so if you are a Driveclub fan, you should check it out!
