Mass Effect-Style Sci-Fi Adventure, EXODUS, Gets New Short Combat Gameplay Trailer

Yesterday, we shared a video from a new game that is inspired by the Mass Effect series, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. However, that’s not the only Mass Effect-like game we’ll be getting. Another one is EXODUS, and Archetype Entertainment has shared a short but sweet gameplay trailer.

EXODUS is the debut game from RPG creator James Ohlen’s new studio. According to the devs, this will be a next-generation, story-driven RPG that marries cinematic storytelling with deep emotional impact, featuring broad player agency and modern AAA gameplay. The story is fueled by the consequences of player choices due to the impact of Time Dilation.

In EXODUS, humanity has escaped a dying Earth and found a new home in a dangerous galaxy. You play as The Traveler, humanity’s last hope. Your mission is to steal alien weapons and technology from the Celestials, the most powerful beings in the universe, and humanity’s biggest enemy. But there’s a catch – Time Dilation.

When Travelers go on their journey in EXODUS, they age much more slowly because of Time Dilation. Meanwhile, the people they leave behind, like friends, family, and companions, age much faster. When Travelers return home, they might find that years or even decades have passed. The friends they left behind could have lived full lives, grown old, or even passed away while they were gone.

This latest trailer is one minute long and features a combat sequence. In the clip, we get to see close-range combat through Khonsu’s interior corridors with companions Tom and Elise. We also get to see The Recycler in action. Players can use Repeater mode for ranged encounters, and Shredder mode when enemies close the gap. Finally, we get a look at the Lance gauntlet ability, which hurls livestone javelins for heavy damage.

Archetype Entertainment plans to release EXODUS in 2027.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
