Here is something for our Doom 3 fans. Modder ‘y2keeth’ has just released a brand new version of his Hi-Def 2K Texture Pack for Doom 3. This pack takes advantage of Dhewm3 engine’s BC7 support, bringing to the game 2K AI-enhanced textures and skins.
For those who did not know, Dhewm3 is a source port of the original Doom 3. Compared to the original version of Doom3, dhewm3 has many bugfixes, supports EAX-like sound effects on all operating systems and hardware (via OpenAL Soft’s EFX support), has much better support for widescreen resolutions, and has 64-bit support.
You can download this new 2K Texture Pack from this link. As said, you’ll also need the latest version of Dhewm3, which you can download from here. At the end of the article, you can also find some screenshots from it. These screenshots will give you a glimpse at the new textures.
If, for whatever reason, you don’t want to use Dhewm3 and stick to Doom 3, you can download Hi Def 3.0 Mod. For those who own Doom 3 BFG, you can download this version of the pack.
Speaking of Doom 3, there is also a really cool Halo-inspired Mod for it. This mod brings to the game the weapons, character models, items, and lore elements from the Halo franchise. So, if you are a Halo fan, you should at least give it a go. Then we have Runner’s Doom 3 v1.5, a mod that attempts to turn the game into an old-school Run-and-Gun shooter. Finally, we have Doom 3: Retaliation, a mod that attempts to bridge the gap between classic Doom, Doom 3 and modern Doom.
If you don’t want to use the Hi-Def 2K Texture Pack, you can use the Essential HD Pack v2.0. This mod upscales and enhances all of the textures in the base game, the Resurrection of Evil DLC, and The Lost Mission Mod. Moreover, it reworks and improves details for all levels, map objects, characters, monsters, and weapons.
Another similar mod that aims to overhaul the game’s graphics is Doom 3 Redux. Doom 3 Redux attempts to overhaul the game’s graphics. Doom 3 Redux comes with over 2,300 enhanced textures. It includes 700+ textures from Monoxead and Wulfen texture packs, plus new ones. More than 1,200 textures have been remade for Redux, usually at 4 times and up to 16 times their original size.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
