Earlier this month, Ubisoft announced the cancellation of the official remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. And while this sucks, PC gamers can already enjoy a remastered version of this game thanks to this new mod.

For those who did not know, in September 2020, Ubisoft officially announced the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. However, its first screenshots left all Prince of Persia fans disappointed. The game did not look good. As a result, Ubisoft decided to delay the game until March 18th, 2021.

Things went downhill in 2021. In February 2021, Ubisoft announced that the game was delayed indefinitely. But then, in June 2021, Ubisoft stated that the remake was targeting a 2022 release date. To the surprise of no one, the game did not come out in 2022.

On top of that, in May 2023, Ubisoft claimed that the remake was still in a conception stage. But then, in June 2024, Ubisoft claimed that the remake was targeting a 2026 release date.

And this brings us to 2026. Just a few days ago, Ubisoft announced the cancellation of the Prince of Persia Remake. Ubisoft claimed that the game did not reach the level of quality its fans deserve. Thus, instead of releasing a mediocre product, the publisher decided to cancel it.

The Sands of Time Remastered Mod adds new, high-quality textures to all environments and NPCs. It also comes with slightly better HD cutscenes. On top of that, the mod changes the Dagger of Time so it looks closer to how it appears in the cutscenes and on the game’s cover.

If you want even better graphics, PC players can use Reshade to add features like Ray Tracing. It’s not as good as real, Native Ray Tracing, but it still makes older games look nicer.

So, by using this HD Texture Pack with Reshade, you can get the best gaming experience in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Hell, even if you don’t want to mess around with Reshade, this HD Texture Pack is a must.

You can go ahead and download it from this link. In the Posts section of the NexusMods page, you can also find its installation guide. The reason I mention this is because the ZIP file does not come with any instructions. Thus, if you don’t visit that section, you won’t know how to install it.

Sadly, the modder has not shared a video for it. However, he did share some screenshots. As such, I’ve decided to include some of them below. These screenshots will give you an idea of what you can expect from it.
