Resident Evil fans, here is something for you today. YouTube’s “RE Biohazard” has shared a trailer for an upcoming CGI fan movie of the first Resident Evil game. This movie is created by fans and artists without using any AI tools. So, if you are a fan of RE, you should check it out.

Resident Evil CGI Fan Movie is built in Unreal Engine 5 and based on the 2002 remake of Resident Evil. This fan movie aims to be a faithful adaptation with some new scenes to expand the story.

The goal of the film is to remain a 100% faithful adaptation of the game’s narrative and atmosphere, while also expanding certain story moments with new and original scenes. The film will also include an adaptation of the Keeper’s Diary, inspired in part by the version recreated by the Residence of Evil team.

The team currently plans to release this CGI movie on March 22nd, 2026. Yup, you read that right. If Capcom does not shut it down, we’ll get this CGI movie that tells the entire story of Resident Evil 1 for free.

Now, as you will see, the facial animations could have been better. Some characters can also feel a bit weird. For instance, the new 3D model for Wesker seems to lack a lot of detail. I don’t know if this is due to YouTube’s compression. Other characters, like Chris or Barry, look better. Again, this is a fan project, so you should temper your expectations. For what it actually is, this fan CGI movie is pretty cool.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. A few months ago, we also shared an amazing remake of Toy Story 2. Then there’s this cool fan remake of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Fans have also made remakes for Star Wars: Republic Commando, Death Stranding, Fallout 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Fallout 4, Resident Evil 1, and Silent Hill 3’s Lakeside Amusement Park. And if you love Zelda, there’s a really cool Studio Ghibli-style teaser for Ocarina of Time made in Unreal Engine 5. Oh, and there’s a video showing MGS2’s iconic intro in UE5.
