Grinding Gear Games will launch the first free weekend for Path of Exile 2 later today. This means that everyone can play it for free. So, if you’ve been looking forward to it, this is your chance to try it.
During the Free Weekend, players can try everything that’s in Path of Exile 2 right now, including the new Third Edict update. There’s no limit on character leveling, and all your progress will be saved to your account. When the Free Weekend ends, you can keep playing by buying an Early Access key, or just wait until the full game launches for free.
For what it’s worth, I tried Path of Exile 2 when it came out in Early Access back in December 2024. The game was enjoyable, but it lacked content. Since I’m not a die-hard PoE fan, I wasn’t that impressed with it. My biggest gripe is with the loot system. During my playthrough, I rarely got any new weapons. I was mostly getting new items for trading.
I know that the trade system is one of the key features of Path of Exile. Some love it, some hate it. Personally, I’m not a big fan of it. So, I was expecting some improvements. Sadly, the devs have not done any major improvements to it. I was rarely getting any legendary weapon drops, especially at the end of the main story. So, that was a big bummer for me.
Anyway, since this is a Free Weekend, I highly recommend trying it. You can do so by visiting its Steam page. You can also find the game’s official PC system requirements. And, as you will see, you won’t need a high-end PC system to run it.
The Free Weekend launches today at 1 PM PDT. It will last until September 1st, 1 PM PDT.
Have fun!

Wake me up after V1 release
2045? 🙂
Having a great time in the game playing coop with my friends, looking forward to 0.3
No thanks! I don't really go for games built around a no-lifer, "micro"-transaction-infested and trade economy.
I'd take a single-player experience over that any day.
I don't grind in games, if I can't use a cheat table or trainers then I'm not interested.
Spreading FUD.
I played POE1 a ton, kinda wanted a couple more stash tabs which are the only functional microtransaction, but in the end never payed a dime.
This is only payed for Early Access, it will be free after release.
