Fallout Bakersfield feature-2

Fallout: Bakersfield Got an Incredible Extended Gameplay Video

Fallout fans, get ready for a treat. Back in July 2025, we shared a short video of a fan-made remake of the classic Fallout games in GZDoom, called Fallout: Bakersfield. Now, Saur X has released a longer video that shows six full minutes of gameplay. Make sure to check it out. This could very well be one of the coolest things you’ll see today.

Fallout: Bakersfield is a total conversion mod for GZDoom. This mod basically re-imagines the classic Fallout games as an FPS/RPG hybrid. This is one of the best retro remakes, and I seriously hope Bethesda will not shut it down.

What really caught my attention in this gameplay video was the animations. Everything looks so smooth and polished. The mod is also full of gore. Players will be able to dismember their enemies. You will also be able to disarm them. This looks dope. A lot of people accused the artist of “faking” everything. And here we are today with an extended gameplay video. So, no. This isn’t fake.

From what I know so far, the mod is 60% complete. Right now, Saur X aims to release Fallout: Bakersfield sometime in 2027. So, it will take a while until we get our hands on it. However, from what we can see here, it will be worth the wait.

Speaking of Doom, here are some other cool mods for it. Voxel Doom is a mod that I highly recommend. As its title suggests, it replaces all sprites with voxels. Then we have Aliens Eradication TC which is a must-have mod for all our Aliens fans. A few days ago, we also shared a “Doom 3” Mod for Doom 2. That mod aimed to continue the story of Doom 2, and featured 2 whole chapters, 36 new tracks and 20+ hours of gameplay.

Brutal Doom: Black Edition is a mod that attempts to bring the art style of id Software’s Doom 3 to the classic Doom games. There’s also a cool Doom 64-inspired episode mod that you can download. Oh, and speaking of Doom 64. Doom 64: Unseen Evil is a mod that remakes Doom 1 & Doom 2 to look like Doom 64. Then we have Bloom, a crossover between Blood and Doom. Plus, there is a cool mod, inspired by Doom: The Dark Ages.

Perhaps the best mods for the classic Doom games are the Path Tracing Mods. Both Doom 1 and Doom 2 received such mods. Thus, I highly recommend downloading them. I’ve replayed both of them recently, and they still look incredible with Path Tracing. This will be one of your best Path Tracing experiences, so don’t sleep on it.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

    1. Your opinion doesn't mean anything and your comment is total claptrap written only for yourself because you're a narcissistic ape. It didn't add anything to the discussion.

  1. How in the world even these sprites look so good ? how many frames are animated here. It's like actual 3d. Not to mention the lighting is gorgeous & They're not overly pixelated like some other games. Will sure keep an eye on this one. Damn!

    1. Guess why they look so good, for the retro style…
      Several points:
      – Because they are 2D sprites made from actual 3D models, so you'll notice a much more nuanced lighting and shadowing on them… They're not hand-drawn.
      – in the case of enemies they're decent resolution sprites, not too low, which i agree would have sucked,
      – and in the case of weapons, they're very high res, which looks very nice,
      – weapons have a smooth sway animation,
      – The other great thing is that fortunately they made the character animations with a lot of frames, so they feel smooth instead of janky,
      – and also made several different animations, according to damage type received.
      – Then the environmental lighting is static, but it's very coherent with that from the sprites.
      – They're using distant fog that adds to the ambience,
      – They have some 3D objects like the cars, strongboxes or fridges and tables and others, done in a low poly but fitting style,
      – They made sprite based fake light shafts from the windows, but they're tastefully quite transparent, very subtle,
      – And finally they are using ambient occlusion as the cherry on top to make the environments feel like they have depth and objects feel grounded.

That's what an excellent artistic and technical direction does for you!

      1. Many thanks for the details. That's pretty clever use of such an old tech. Truly the team is very well experienced and know what they're doing. So far graphics and gunplay look tight and they're in the right direction. I really hope they finish it.

      1. lmao, how many accounts have you made you smelly 60 IQ ugly pajeet.
I wanted to call you a monkey but I'd rather fck a monkey than an Indian/Paki woman so I'm at a loss.

        1. You’re not that far from n*ggas, and the interesting part is that blacks are hmo sapiens like us, while Indians are mixed with hmo erectus.
How do you feel when our teenage girls tower above your men mr.pajeet?

        1. I asked first, you behave like someone whose sister is also the mother, so i asked, i thought you need help

          1. Definitely inbred !! Are you planning to stop the cycle or you’ll perpetuate the cycle with your sister/mom again ?

          2. You’re not lurking, you’re the same miserable bot HAHA, at least do it properly

  2. "This is one of the best retro remakes, and I seriously hope Bethesda will not shut it down."

they will put it in the doom mod browser and brag about it.

      1. Unfortunately you only mate in family, your sister/mom would be jealous, and you’re probably too r*tarded to know where to put it

  3. Wow really looking forward to my first Fallout playthrough in (on) this version, this looks fantastic so far.
