STALKER Call of Prypiat - Enhanced Edition

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy – Enhanced Edition Patch 1.2 Released & Fully Detailed

GSC GameWorld has released Patch 1.2 for the remastered trilogy of the first three STALKER games, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy. So, let’s see what this new update brings to the table.

Update 1.2 makes the game more stable. The devs fixed many crashes on all platforms. They also fixed a problem that made the image look blurry. A lot of players complained about this issue. So, it’s good to see the devs addressing it.

Patch 1.2 also improves the look of trees, grass, and faraway objects. The team fixed some shading problems, too. Thanks to these updates and the fix for the blurry image, the game should now look better. But don’t expect it to look as good as the old STALKER games with lots of mods. So, make sure to keep your expectations in check.

Update 1.2 also makes combat better by fixing some issues with enemy behavior. It adds a new setting called “mipmap bias,” which makes textures look sharper when using FSR. Plus, you can now quick-save your game, with up to 15 saves allowed. This is great for players who didn’t like the old save system. Lastly, the update fixes some sound problems, like broken or out-of-sync audio, in all the games.

If you want to stick with the original STALKER games, I recommend using the STALKER Anomaly or STALKER Complete Mod. These mods will overhaul their graphics. There’s also a great Co-Op Mod for STALKER: Call of Pripyat, which lets you play with friends. It would have been awesome if the remastered games had this feature. Sadly, the devs didn’t add it. So hopefully, modders will bring Co-Op to the remastered version in the future.

For what it’s worth, the remasters have Mixed reviews on Steam. It’s obvious that most PC gamers are not quite happy with them. And, I can’t really blame them. These old titles would greatly benefit from Path Tracing. So, it’s a shame GSC GameWorld did not invest in something like that.

The reason I’m saying this is because I recently replayed Quake 2 RTX. And my God, it still looks sooooooo good. The same can be said about Quake RTX, Doom RTX, and Doom 2 RTX. These three games are some of the best examples of Path Tracing. At least in my opinion. So, be sure to try them.

Like always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Below, you can also find its complete changelog. As you will see, it’s relatively short. Still, this update packs major tweaks and changes.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. the reason people are mad is the censorship and the complete and utter unnecessary removal of the old games.

    1. Old games weren't removed
It's everything from censorship, new bugs and glitches, AI use to upscale textures and not fixing legacy bugs, plus worse performance.

  2. There are minimal upgrades to this EE and was a cash grab for new players that 2 would have brought in, nothing but crass marketing with very little effort. They couldn't even be bothered to fix bugs that mods had fixed years ago, which these EE editions lock out most mods, no console commands which helped a lot getting out of their bugs in og versions. The popular narrative(which is total bs) about ukraine-rus also has no place in this either, pure vanity by sukass devs, begging bowl crossdersser "leaders" type of stuff. These greedster skum at gsc also took the og versions off steam afaik, I think the GOG og versions are still there. Only reason I bothered getting the free versions of these is native controller support, otherwise they're buggy, crash a lot and suk in general.
