NetEase just shared news about its new game, called Blood Message. This is the company’s first single-player game with a strong story and action-packed gameplay. It will be a linear adventure, which means you follow a set path through the game. Blood Message is made using Unreal Engine 5, so it should look really amazing. You can watch the first trailer for it below.
Blood Message will be based on the historical event of Dunhuang’s Uprising. It takes place in the year 848, near the end of China’s Tang Dynasty. You play as a nameless messenger who must travel over 1,000 miles to the east. Your mission is to deliver an important message that could save your homeland.
Players will travel through deadly places like empty deserts, wild forests, and dangerous land in East and Central Asia. They will have to survive tough battles, harsh land, and powerful enemies. The game’s setting will show a special time in Chinese history, filled with old traditions, culture, and stories from that era.
Blood Message will be a story-focused game that plays like a movie. It aims to have exciting and realistic fighting, mixing sneaky moves and survival skills. The creators want to take players on an emotional journey, with themes like family, honor, sacrifice, and staying true to your culture.
In the trailer, we get to see some combat and quick-time events. The game will be using a third-person camera that will be close to the character. Now I don’t know if the combat is what we’ll get. It definitely looks interesting. But, since this is a trailer, I suggest taking everything you’ll see with a grain of salt. At least I can say that what we see is in-engine footage. So, that’s at least something.
There is currently no ETA for when the game will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!

Oh come on now don't be a hater. It looks promising. Almost as good as wukong.
A confident hwait man, displaying his high IQ.
The irony is strong with this one!
Assassins Creed China looks promising ngl. Oh wait my bad Ubi could never achieve this.
Yep, they would rather find that one bIack dude who was in China in that era and make him the protagonist
ikr!
Well there is a China based Assassin's Creed game but it's not in the usual AC style but a side scroller of sorts. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China released in 2015. Ubisoft was giving it away for free a few years ago. It's got an interesting art style and is actually the first AC game to have a female protagonist. I think the game's story is based on one of the Assassin's Creed books
It's over for the west.
Also what a difference from your usual Korean g00ner slop.
Chinese demostrate who are the peasant rice farmers.
The West is the best, it's far from over for the West.
Nice trailer to be honest. Game has potential, and looks far much better than the AC series, and other stereotype action RPGs of the late (at least judging from this trainer).
I will keep an eye on this title.
If it can deliver a strong compelling "single player" linear story, with an emotional touch as the devs claim, then NetEase have a nice ace up their sleeve.

As someone who lived/worked and studied china, its amazing to see them go from the third world( just 15 years ago). To creating High art( games CAN be the ultimate art form) better then the west. Also really cool to see an original tale instead of the constant milking of wuxia/JtoW/3king/etc. The idea of a messenger traveling on the ancient silk road is….. brilliant( mundane in concept but grand in the importance of ancient logistics/statecraft) also enables all sort terrain/civilizations/cultures to be included without being forced. Excite.
15 years ago? you lived in an opium den? China started (rapidly) coming out of 3rd world status in the 80's
Actually they were and still are a Second World nation just like the Soviet Union was (Russia is now a Third World nation)
First World = West, mainly NATO countries and Japan
Second World = Communist countries
Third World = everyone else
Looks decent but I gotta see gamepaly first
