YouTube’s ‘Bang4BuckPC Gamer’ has shared a video, showcasing Killzone 2 running on PC via RPCS3 on an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D with an NVIDIA RTX 4090. This video will give you an idea of how the best PS3 emulator runs on one of the best gaming PCs. So, let’s take a look at it.
Now the good news here is that Bang4BuckPC Gamer has included a performance overlay. As such, we get to see the CPU and GPU utilization. And, even at 4K, Killzone 2 is bottlenecked by the CPU.
The NVIDIA RTX 4090 is used between 70-90%, and the framerate fluctuates between 50FPS and 90FPS. So, to get a constant 60FPS experience with this current build of RPCS3, we’ll have to either wait for the next generation of AMD CPUs, or rely on frame generation techniques.
Neither the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D nor the NVIDIA RTX 4090 are at fault here. The reason Killzone 2 runs below 60FPS is due to the PS3 emulation. The RPCS3 team will obviously have to further optimize its code. As such, we expect the game to run better in future versions of RPCS3. Still, even with this current build, we are really close to a 60FPS experience.
Since Sony does not plan to bring the old Killzone games to PC, this will be the best way to experience them. This holds true for other PS3 games, like Lair, inFAMOUS 2, Gran Turismo 6 and MotorStorm. There are rumors that Konami may include MGS4 in its collection. And as for the God of War games, rumors suggest that Sony may remaster all the Greek GOW games for PS5 and PC. As said, these are just rumors and nothing more. Thus, take them with a grain of salt. Still, we might get native PC versions for these titles.
Before closing, I should note that other PS3 games run way better on RPCS3 than Killzone 2. Right now, Killzone 2 (and 3) are the most demanding PS3 games to run on PC via RPCS3. So, the fact that we are so close to a 60FPS in this game is actually great news.

Given the huge success of Halo MCC, it makes sense to release on PC/ps5….do that before a Relaunch/rebirth of the series on console to get the brand back out there. Sony Needs a CoD competitor, this series or Socom.
i want resistance series and uncharted trilogy on pc instead.
I'm all for Uncharted Trilogy, but Resistance is dated AF, even when back then it felt very weak compared to other FPS games
Disagree hard. The only one of the Resistance trilogy that's aged a bit poorly is no. 2, because they were to copy Halo too much.
The concept alternative world history with an alien invasion + Ratchet & Clank style creative weapons was very cool.
The weapons were cool but lacked feeling, the level design was poor and it had that ugly grey/brown tint tuned to 11, never said it was bad, just very weak compared to the FPS games of the same era especially if you include PC shooters, it was a strong year dude and it had no chance to stand out, Bioshock, COD4, Crysis, The Darkness, Halo 3, STALKER… Maybe the best among the forgettable ones like MOH Airborne, SoF Payback and Timeshift
The darkness, and Timeshift…. good times. The darkness 2 is one of my favorite games, EVERYONE go PLAY that, Its what Modern gaming SHOULD be Funny, Sexy Violence. I'm such a Nerd I remember Timeshift original announcement with that better art style.
Neither Killzone or SOCOM will ever make a return. Unless they genuinely change their minds but Guerilla Gaymes publicly said that they were done with Killzone series and Horizon Gaymes were their main priorities!!!
Killzone and SOCOM sold like absolute garbage compared to Halo which is why both series got killed off around the end of the PS3 gen.
People are so quick to forget how painfully mediocre Killzone especially was.
I would like to see SOCOM return but it's a slower paced tactical shooter, not really a CoD competitor.
Halo was a successful series, it makes sense to release a compilation, Killzone has a niche fanbase and wasn't relevant even by 2010 standards, other than the fact that it looked great it's nothing but a generic FPS, this sums up Guerrilla very well, good at graphics but sucks at everything else
Killzone 2 & 3 were very much CoD clones structurally. Not terrible games by any means, but pretty generic as you say. All of the people hyping it up were totally graphics wh0res.
I'm a Gamer, a game doesnt have to be the BeStest Evar for me to enjoy it, Gaming has this problem where we only get behind #1 and sh*t all over #2-#100. I enjoy/appericate the art and soul of b-teir games. Recently beat Gujian 3, ManEater, Homefront: Revo, Back 4 Blood, Mad Max, Had fun with all, none Bestest evar.
I believe if done Right, the Socom brand can be a CoD level franchise, The Chuds know of and drool over anything "operators"

You should give it a try. I have an i7 13700KF and the performance is solid, except some few areas obviously.
you can run this game without a monster pc but they are still demanding, gotta give it to them killzone 2 and especially 3 looked really good on the ps3.
