Prophecy Games is currently working on a new Tribes game, and it has shared the first screenshots from it. These are screenshots from an early build, so don’t expect them to wow you. Still, they can at least give you an idea of the game’s art style.
For those wondering, Prophecy Games owns the Tribes IP rights. So yeah, this will be a new official Tribes game. Not only that but the developers will most likely launch a playtesting on November 29th and 30th. From what I know, this will most likely be a public playtesting, meaning that everyone will be able to participate in it.
Unfortunately, we don’t know much about this new Tribes game. We don’t know whether it will be a full-priced or a free-to-play title. We also don’t know the engine that it will be using. My guess is that this is Unreal Engine. Or at least that makes sense. After all, Tribes: Ascend was also powered by Unreal Engine (UE3 to be more precise).
Visually, the game looks… fine I guess? From what I can see, Prophecy Games has managed to retain the art style of Tribes: Ascend. That’s definitely great news for all Tribes fans. And again, these are screenshots from a very early build. So yeah, at least we can cut the team some slack. Let’s at least hope that it won’t have any major performance issues.
Enjoy the screenshots and stay tuned for more!

Given the pathetic state of the gayming industry, I’m sure this will have:
No offline modes
Live Service
Microtransactions
Daily login + daily challenges bonuses
Endless grinding
Rainbow cancer
It will be Live Service F2P like Tribes Ascend, I though HiRez owned the IP and indeed they still do.
Prophecy games is owned by them.
The free to play game wasn’t bad but this needs to play exactly like Tribes 2.
Those are LQ screenshoots from LQ video/stream, not a direct shoots from RAW footage.
Tribes Ascend was great.
Is so hard to imagine this game could survive in the actual environment of online games.
Tribes Vengeance is the only best Tribes game given that it has a full fledge campaign. It suck that the ending end in a cliffhanger
Shazbot!
what a waste of electricity
too many deployables and classes made the last tribes suck, that and the lack of players
Tribes Ascend with real-time shadows and cheap looking “flat UI”. Tribes Ascend was a fairly generic looking game and it still looked more inspired than this. NO art direction. We’re approaching a game graphics singularity where no game has any identity left. And I don’t see the point of making Tribes Ascend again if it wasn’t profitable last time. I can already see them going through the motions again:
– Launch with a promising game but bugs
– Fix most of the bugs, creating a fairly happy community
– Panic because you’re not making money
– Add things nobody asked for to sell as P2W features (see: weapons and maybe also classes in T:A)
– Change game balance / mechanics in a way that ruins it for everybody, even the whales (see: speed caps in T:A)
Rinse and repeat. Why do it again if we already know this is how it’s going to play out?
Just checking to see if we will still see this. I am a lifelong fan of These titles.
