YouTube’s ‘Jonx0r’ has remastered a lot of maps from Dark Souls 3’s Irithyll city in Unreal Engine 5. The artist has shared a video, showcasing 11 maps, covering the entire city. As such, this video can give you a pretty good idea of what a remaster of this game could look like.
Now what’s cool here is that Jonx0r has implemented some very basic control mechanics. The artist has also imported the main player who can move freely (with quite smooth animations) in it. And yes, there are also a number of gestures the main character can use.
My guess is that this project uses both Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite and Lumen. During sprinting, I couldn’t really spot any major pop-ins. Then again I’m on a laptop so perhaps I might see the pop-ins on when I watch the video on the LG CX.
Jonx0r used the original models, textures, animations, and sounds. But here’s the thing. The artist upscaled these textures with Topaz Gigapixel. So, this fan remaster looks way sharper and more detailed than the original. As for character locomotion, camera, particle effects, UI? They have been recreated to feel like the original.
Sadly, you can’t actually download this project because it’s more like a portfolio showcase. But hey, it looks amazing. So, if you’re a big Dark Souls fan, you should definitely watch it. It’s worth your time.

It’s extremely annoying to put such clearly false title to your articles – only the original author, or someone who the original author authorize, can *remaster* a game.
This guy can create as many clips as he wants – more power to him, but they are not remasters.
It’s one of these words that John does not know the meaning of: remaster, raytracing, isometric, etc

Unreal Failengine 5’s water rendering looks worse than that of Crysis from 2007. A 17-year-old game that ran on single core CPU and GPU with 256MB of memory.

The only thing impressive in UE5 is the lighting, and that’s it.

As to the UE thing it’s a very strange engine, at least in the taycon games I’ve played lately that use it, buggy, weird ramping up and down of usage, stutters just come out of nowhere and don’t go away until exit out and back in, sometimes looks great like puddles and etc but sometimes it’s like at 2010 game with assets and interiors, npcs etc I think unless the devs that switch to it do a lot of customizing and optimization work it’s a pretty grim outlook. Cpdurtards likely going to just fade out at some point, terrible decisions made over and over, reliance on legal lying marketing, reputation for a couple of great games, breaking promises all over just in a typical tribester way with legalisms, etc
