It’s been a while since our last UE5 article, right? So, today we’ve got something really cool for you. Christopher Sewell has shared a video, showcasing the first map from Return to Castle Wolfenstein in Unreal Engine 5.
For those unaware, Sewell has worked in games using the previous iterations of Unreal Engine, such as Bombshell and Rad Rodgers. In these two games, Sewell worked as a Q&A Analyst.
Now what’s really cool about this project is that you can download it and play it. While this fan remake does not have any enemies, it allows you to fully explore the first map of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. And hey, it’s at least better than most of the other UE5 projects that don’t include any download link.
Talking about Unreal Engine 5, we recommend trying out these other free fan-made demos. After all, we here at DSOGaming have shared numerous of them. You can grab a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine. Don’t also forget the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5. Lastly, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in UE 5.3.1. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.
Before closing, I should note that the Path Tracing Mod for Return to Castle Wolfenstein is still in development. Back in July 2023, Dihara Wijetunga, AMD’s Senior Graphics R&D Engineer, shared a gameplay video for it. So, while there is still no ETA on when it will come out, I suggest taking a look at that video to see what’s in store.
Have fun!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. Return to Castle Stutterfield: Motion blur
news about remakes sucks
Is this how smooth UE5 games will run like in 2030?
IMO the original game has a much more pleasing look despite it’s low poly graphics.
You’re absolutely right. I’d rather play the original, despite the dated graphics.
You can have the best of both worlds and play RealRTCW which updates the graphics wihtout destroying them (free on Steam).
Thanks for the info. I will be replaying RTCW again soon. I will try it with this mod.
I hope the co-op works via Steam services so you can play it online. That would be a lot of fun.
It also looks and plays fantastic in VR! Anyone with a Quest should give it a try.
no, vintage pixel graphics suck, and you nostalgic zoomer or millenial wimps are currently destroying gaming graphics for convincing developer that this is trendy and desireable. it’s not. f*ck pixel vomit, most games with this h*mo aesthetic fail
Amateur stuff, remember what Bright Memory devs are working on right now.
Why would you play this with nothing to shoot the original with hd textures and Reshade Rtx looks fantastic but does not take away the original look and feel of the game.
That was cool. yeah it was crappy with motion blur. it’s not 1:1 but it was a cool 5 mins. The ending is f*king funny. It just zooms in on Hitler. lmao
This looks like sh*te!
The original with RealRTCW looks amazing! I love RTCW, what an absolute classic FPS from the golden-era!
