STAR WARS Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II gets a new HD Texture Pack

In November 2019, we shared an ESRGAN AI-enhanced Texture Pack for STAR WARS Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2. And today, we bring you yet another HD Texture Pack for this classic Star Wars game.

Modder ‘vurt’ created this new HD Texture Pack that makes the game’s textures look much better. The modder used AI tools to make the original textures higher quality, just like the previous mod. As such, the new textures retain the game’s art style.

This HD Texture Pack overhauls over 620 textures, and it is compatible with OpenJKDF. So, in theory, it should also be compatible with Star Wars Jedi Knight Remastered 3.0.

If you are interested in it, you can download it from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find some comparison screenshots. These screenshots should give you an idea of the improvements that these new textures bring to the table.

Speaking of AI-enhanced HD Texture Packs, we also suggest taking a look at these for some other games. Last month, STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl and Half-Life 2 got two cool AI-enhanced HD Texture Packs. Let’s also not forget these packs for Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. You can also find packs for Far Cry 3The Elder Scrolls IV: OblivionFinal Fantasy 7 RemakeThe Elder Scrolls IV: OblivionBlood 2Dark Souls 2FEAR and Resident Evil 7.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. Quite impressed with that door, not only much higher resolution but interestingly redesigned. The AI stuff keeps getting better.

    1. I much rather have a clear image than a blurry or pixelated mess. The models are improved too for this remaster (the OpenJKDF2 Remaster), though not by this mod.. it looks quite modern apart from the crude (but fun) level design… the game is not that unsimilar to new boomer shooters, which still are quite successful on Steam (Ion Fury etc), same type of old-style level design etc.

      1. The level design of JK DF2 is far superior than the majority of retro shooter imho. Only Dusk can really compete with it but the aproach too different to compare.

  2. What’s the point? The modder should’ve just waited for the official upcoming remaster and made this mod for it.

    1. proof of upcoming remaster of JK2? there’s only a JK1 remaster coming. if there is a JK2 remaster coming in the future it would be very unlikely that the mod would not be compatible.

      1. Oh, sorry, I’ve confused this one with the upcoming remaster of Dark Forces 1 by NDS (I admittedly never played them and they both have a similar and confusing title).
