eFootball 2024 now uses the Denuvo anti-tamper tech

Now here is something that passed under our radar. In August, Konami released Update v3.0.0 for eFootball which added Irdeto’s anti-tamper tech. And, as you may have guessed, eFootball 2024 is also using the controversial anti-tamper tech that all PC gamers hate, Denuvo.

What’s also funny here is that Denuvo appears to have introduced launch issues to some PC gamers. Konami has not issued any official statement about these crashes so we don’t know when – and if – there will be a hotfix. So, if you are affected by them, you won’t be able to play this soccer game.

Ironically, eFootball 2024 is a free-to-play game. Thus, I really don’t know what Konami was smoking when it decided to implement Denuvo. Denuvo won’t certainly stop cheaters, so what’s the point of using it?

Speaking of Denuvo, EA SPORTS FC 24 will also have it. In this case, however, we’re talking about a proper game in which EA tries to protect its sales. This isn’t a free-to-play title. So at least it somehow makes sense to use Denuvo in it.

For what it’s worth, I don’t expect Konami to remove Denuvo from eFootball 2024 anytime soon. Unlike Bethesda, Warner Bros, Capcom, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix who have removed Denuvo from their older games, both EA and Konami have kept Denuvo in their games.

For instance, SE has removed Denuvo from  The Diofield ChronicleVALKYRIE ELYSIUMTRIANGLE STRATEGY and Forspoken. Moreover, both Octopath Traveler and its sequel no longer use it. Similarly, Capcom has removed Denuvo from  Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin and Resident Evil Village. Warner Bros has also removed it from Mortal Kombat 11. And then we have Bandai Namco who has removed it from Tekken 7 and NARUTO TO BORUTO: SHINOBI STRIKER.

On the other hand, though, all the previous FIFA games still use the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. And yes, all of EA’s latest games still have it (as will EA’s upcoming WRC game).

Lastly, since Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain still has Denuvo, we can safely assume that Silent Hill 2 Remake and Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake will be also using it.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. It’s almost amusing to watch companies learn nothing from competitors, such as Baldur’s Gate 3, with zero DRM.

As though cancerous, draconian DRM, is going to secure sales for their garbage product.

    Almost amusing……

      1. agree, let see what Embracer will close after Volition next before they being bankrupt themselves , not wish for it but its the reality

  2. Denuvo is a succes, 0 day piracy doesn’t exist on denuvo titles. And the scene is pathetic, only Empress can crack it. There still isn’t a crack for atomic hearth for example

    1. There’s never been a time where 0 day piracy has been less desirable. Anyone who buys a game on day 1 these days, is buying a beta, and is a complete and utter moron.

  3. Denuvo “all gamers hate”. Honestly, I don’t care about it at all. I am yet to see any convincing evidence of detrimental performance impact, except perhaps on very weak hardware that probably would struggle with the same games without it anyway.

  4. As PES fans, this latest version of the game actually pretty close to become PES successor, sadly, options in their game are pretty limited… Seems like they didnt even have any mean to sell fully games anymore
