Starfield releases in a couple of days and according to Bethesda’s Pete Hines, The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently in an early development phase.
In an interview with the Spanish website Vandal, Pete Hines confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI is no longer in pre-production. Instead, the game has entered its development phase.
Bethesda revealed The Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018. However, until 2021, the game was in a pre-production/design stage. And even though Microsoft expects TESVI to come out in 2026, we are certain that it will miss that targeted release year.
Unfortunately, there is nothing more to report. As Bethesda claimed, any news regarding this upcoming The Elder Scrolls game is years away. Well okay, that comment was made in 2020. So I guess we might hear something about TES6 in 2024.
Microsoft and Bethesda are obviously focused right now on Starfield. Nevertheless, we do know that both of these games will be using the same engine, Creation Engine 2.0.
For those unaware, it appears that Starfield runs with 45-60fps at 1440p/High Settings with FSR 2.0 on an NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti. However, I wouldn’t read too much into this. For starters, we don’t know whether these drops are due to a CPU or GPU bottleneck. So yeah, you should at least wait for our initial PC performance impressions. Although we have not received a review code, we’ll be sharing our impressions this Friday, September 1st.
All in all, it’s good to know that The Elder Scrolls 6 has entered its development stage. And now that Starfield is complete, we expect its development to slowly ramp up.

Depends on how many employees are going to be assigned to patching Starfield and then, of course, their will be employees assigned to the Starfield expansions. It looks like it will be many years before ES VI comes out.

Regarding the criticism, i’m all for bashing Bethesda and companies in general, but how is the evolving degeneracy of the “lgbbtqp communitay” their fault exactly? I don’t get hating on a game because of the trash fanbase, happens to many times and is myopic. A game can have a perfect track record, work discipline, good storyline and worldbuilding, and still attract the scum of the earth interested in playing it.

Considering Starfield was almost finished and delayed by a year… I assume the teams working on assets/design were moved on to TESVI long ago.
I hope elder scroll 6 will look better than Starfield… cause damn if it looks about the same when it releases, in 4-6 years, thats gonna be ugly AF compared to the competition.

No, we are very much in the era of diminishing returns graphics-wise. Check out the progression in graphics from Bioshock (2007) to Batman Arkham Knight (2015) to today. Now compare the same progression over the same 16-year timeframe from 1980 (Pacman or Asteroids) to 1996 (Mario 64 or Quake). Even Bioshock looks better than some lower budget releases in 2023.
Bioshock looks good because they had great designers and good artists. We’re in the era of diminishing returns sure but look at the games that are supposed to release in 2024-2025 and they look a lot better. Black myth wukong, dragon dogma 2, crimson desert, death stranding 2, star wars outlaws looks impressive…
Games have been stagnating in the last couple of years because of consoles… consoles are slowing progress down because theres 100+ million of em so of course developpers downgrade games so it runs on those consoles. If all the gaming money was on PC, graphics and overall games would have way better graphics and bigger worlds.
