Red Dead Redemption 2 gets an HD Texture Pack, overhauling all ground & rock textures

Modder ‘WickedHorseMan’ has released a new HD Texture Pack for Red Dead Redemption 2. This pack aims to improve the game’s graphics by overhauling all ground and rock textures.

The modder has used AI techniques, like ESRGAN, in order to upscale the textures by four times. Do note, however, that the normal maps and reflection textures have not been touched.

Since the modder has used AI techniques to enhance the vanilla textures, we highly recommend using it. After all, these new textures retain the art style of the original/vanilla ones.

You can download this HD Texture Pack from here. Below you can also find some screenshots that showcase these newly enhanced textures.

Speaking of Red Dead Redemption 2, we also suggest taking a look at these other mods. There is a mod that adds “The Matrix” bullet time effect, and there is an AI-enhanced HD Texture Pack for all weapons. Furthermore, there is a mod that adds 13 lore-friendly Mexico map expansions. Another cool mod is this one that enables dismemberment for all pedestrians. Additionally, you can find a mod that overhauls its law system, as well as a mod that overhaul the interior lighting. And finally, there is an HD Texture Pack that overhauls the hair of all pedestrians.

Enjoy!

  1. How about overhauling the slow @ss gameplay… Walking inside your own camp makes you wanna blow everybody’s head off.

    1. 1 – go to the interwebs
      2 – search for a trainer
3 – increase game speed in trainer
      4 – ???????????
      5 – profit

      1. Ever played Red Dead 1? That game doesn’t feel like a cowboy simulator… I want more of that. I don’t want to force-walk inside “my” camp at all in fact, never mind different camps through out the game.

  2. Another terrible upscale which doesn’t actually add any new detail or information into the texture and merely smoothens and sharpens it.

    1. If the actual diffuse maps are upscaled to a higher res then its fine. But if all they did was screw with sharpening or normals then they should be banned from modding. My absolute pet peeve is people who release “HD” texture packs but all they do is make the normals such a high definition you can barely see them when light contacts a surface. Hot garbage.

      1. The Nexus page has comparisons of the textures. They are higher resolution without actually providing additional detail, because the guy used an AI model which is not meant for game textures…

    1. If I remember right, there was exactly a mod like that, but like in true take jew fashion, the lawyers came after the creator and shut it down.

  3. As a heads up Nexus has a mod that changes the rays shots with spacing and draw distance in Witcher 3 RT. GPU performance skyrocketed on it. CPU performance is of course still abysmal.

  4. Doesn’t cover them all. Says on the page that some areas are still vanilla. I run very few mods because most of them are too buggy or like textures, usually just making them sharp.
