First teaser trailers for Duke Nukem Forever 2001 Restoration Project

A team of modders is currently working on a restoration project for the leaked 2001 version of Duke Nukem Forever. Duke Nukem Forever 2001 Restoration Project aims to complete Duke Nukem Forever as it was originally intended, and below you can find its first teaser trailers.

Let’s start with the First Slice Teaser Trailer. This is a cinematic trailer that also includes music from the legendary Duke3D composer Lee Jackson. So, in theory, this restoration project will also feature new music from Jackson himself.

The second trailer showcases some action from the game and its new enemy AI.

And lastly, the third trailer features some comparison scenes between the modded and the original leaked 2001 versions.

There is currently no ETA on when Duke Nukem Forever 2001 Restoration Project will come out. And, since this will be a huge project, I’m almost certain we won’t be playing it anytime soon. To be honest, I don’t expect a 2023 release date (and a 2024 release date may sound very optimistic at this stage).

But anyway, enjoy the trailers and stay tuned for more!

    1. What was so bad about it, in your opinion?

Personally, I always wanted to properly play this version ever since my Windows XP days.

Thanks to this restoration project, I will personally make sure that even my cousins & nephews get to experience this landmark in video game history on their Steam Decks which I’ve gifted to them!

          1. You didn’t mentioned confederate flags nor the name of the casinos early, and didn’t provide timestamp. Stop being lazy.

          2. You need to put a little bit of effort. I asked for timestamps and all i got was you changing the subject. Don’t bother replying just for arguing sake.

          3. Even when trying to have the last word you look lazy. But don’t worry, i’m always here to humiliate internet bums such as you.

          4. you failed multiple times to pay attention and figure out what was i talking about in a specific article in a specific video to a point that other people had to explain to you what i meant since you continue to be so confused like a fcking rtard and you even reply to the wrong person, to me, instead of the one who explained it to you and you think i am the one who is humilated? Not that anyone pays attention to this article.

          5. This wall of text you just typed woudn’t be necessary if you weren’t so lazy to just explain things correctly the first time around. There’s a lesson there, i hope you learn it.

          6. mothercker you pester me about something everyone else got instantly since they liked my comment, you are the only idiot who didnt get it, not my fault you are low iq.

          7. By everyone else you mean 2 people. I never denied claiming i didn’t see the change, you just decided to act like an a$$hole about it. I would have upvoted Duke91 post if he replied to me. And i also asked you to stop replying if you didn’t wanted to explain, which you failed several times, so enjoy getting pestered.

    1. Just watched the video again, and you’re right. Bet this will be a pozzed nukem forever 2001 with these ‘fans’ working on it. For the guy asking for the timestamps, 1:40 it gets close to the original, confederate flag “plantation” casino, then at 2:40 you can clearly see they removed the original sign from the casino.

      1. Lol and here i was thinking @dur@daka54:disqus was talking about some vegetation, thanks for the info, i only wish you could reply to me instead of lazy durka, who is too lazy to type and explain things coherently.

On a second look, the game leak openly associated the dixie flag with slavery, since “plantation” is the economic model of slavery, so it was not that great back then as well.

      1. From what I understand they had to finish it, since 3DRealms never quite made it there. If 3DRealms had actually finished the game, they would have had something to sell, and wouldn’t have had to sell off the Duke Nukem IP to stay afloat.

        1. Yeah, but by “finishing”, it was more about bug fixing and optimization, so they can be blamed for that but not on the game content itself. If anyone can provide a breakdown of which content was made by 3dRealms and which was made by Gearbox, i would be interested to know.

          1. I remember reading/hearing that content near the end of the game wasn’t done yet, however I’ve never seen a breakdown of what 3DRealms finished themselves and what Gearbox finished. As far as I know the majority of the game was made by 3DRealms, but since Gearbox took over at the end it’s possible that whatever final touches and gameplay adjustments that 3DRealms might have done to make the game more enjoyable didn’t happen.

          2. I never blamed it all on Gearbox. I said 3DRealms made the majority of the game content, but didn’t get a chance to do post production work on the game since it wasn’t finished when Gearbox got their hands on it. We have no idea how the game would have turned out if 3DRealms had finished the game, and had time to do bug fixes and final tweaks on gameplay mechanics.

Granted a lot of the content was just not enjoyable to play, and that’s the fault of 3DRealms as they made the majority of that content.

          3. All that being said, i did enjoyed the Gearbox published (finished) DNF. There is even some promising mods that will add better lighting, shadows and old school features.
