Remedy has confirmed that Alan Wake Remastered will not support Ray Tracing or HDR. I’m pretty sure that this will disappoint a lot of PC gamers that have been looking forward to this remaster. However, Remedy has confirmed that the game will support NVIDIA’s DLSS tech.
As Remedy stated:
“As this is a remaster built on the existing Alan Wake engine and technology, adding in ray tracing / HDR support was deemed too time-consuming. This would have taken resources away from other critical areas.“
So there you have it. Alan Wake Remastered will not be using the Northlight Engine, and will not support Ray Tracing.
Remedy also claimed that the PC version of Alan Wake Remastered will be x64 and support DX12 only.
From what we know, Alan Wake Remastered features higher-quality 3D models and textures. Moreover, it comes with some additional bushes, as well as slightly improved lighting.
The game will release on October 5th, exclusively via Epic Games Store. You can find some original vs remastered comparison screenshots here.

They will probably replace the guns with walkie talkies lol
Care to elaborate how exactly the C-19 vaccine cannot protect you, doc?
Oh wow, I’m impressed you actually managed to come back with some links instead of referring to Stewie Peters again. Slow clap. Now let’s see what we have here…

You seem to have glossed over the article without understanding what it was actually referring to. Here is what the CONCLUSION section states:
“This study demonstrated that natural immunity confers longer lasting and stronger protection against infection, symptomatic disease and hospitalization caused by the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2, compared to the BNT162b2 two-dose vaccine-induced immunity. Individuals who were both previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 and given a single dose of the vaccine gained additional protection against the Delta variant.”
The so-called “immunity” has only been tested on people who had recovered from a PREVIOUS bout of C-19. In other words, this does NOT apply to people who were never infected. Therefore, your generalizaation is cherrypicking a single part of the study while deliberately ignoring the caveats.

Again you seem to have cherrypicked certain parts to suit your narrative. Here’s the full excerpt:
Based on their work, the researchers said that although jabs did not eliminate chances of getting Covid-19, they did reduce the risk and remained the most effective way to ensure protection against the Delta variant. Figures from the Office for National Statistics shows antibody levels remain high across the UK in the week beginning July 26, with nine in 10 adults estimated to have Covid antibodies. Sarah Walker, professor of medical statistics and epidemiology at the University of Oxford, said: “We don’t yet know how much transmission can happen from people who get Covid-19 after being vaccinated. “For example, they may have high levels of virus for shorter periods of time. “But the fact that they can have high levels of virus suggests that people who aren’t yet vaccinated may not be as protected from the Delta variant as we hoped.
“This means it is essential for as many people as possible to get vaccinated, both in the UK and worldwide.”
The study, conducted in partnership with the Office of National Statistics (ONS) and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC), looked at data between December 2020 and August 2021 from the Covid-19 Infection Survey.
Swab tests from more than 700,000 participants were analysed from before and after May 17 2021, when Delta became the main variant in the UK.
Analysis revealed that for infections with a high viral load, protection a month after the second Pfizer dose was 90 per cent greater than an unvaccinated individual, reducing to 85 per cent after two months and 78 per cent after three.
For AstraZeneca, the equivalent protection was 67 per cent, 65 per cent and 61 per cent, the researchers said.

While itt is true that Israel has seen spikes in Delta infections among vaccinated people, this does not equate to vaccines being useless. In fact, it stresses that mere vaccination is not enough, but other precautions must also be taken. Here’s the excerpt:
“Researchers have shown that boosting induces a prompt surge in antibodies, which are needed in the nose and throat as a crucial first line of defense against infection. The Israeli government’s decision to start boosting those 50 and older was driven by preliminary Ministry of Health data indicating people over age 60 who have received a third dose were half as likely as their twice-vaccinated peers to be hospitalized in recent days, Mevorach says. CHS also reported that out of a sample of more than 4500 patients who received boosters, 88% said any side effects from the third shot were no worse, and sometimes milder, than from the second.
Yet boosters are unlikely to tame a Delta surge on their own, says Dvir Aran, a biomedical data scientist at Technion. In Israel, the current surge is so steep that “even if you get two-thirds of those 60-plus [boosted], it’s just gonna give us another week, maybe 2 weeks until our hospitals are flooded.” He says it’s also critical to vaccinate those who still haven’t received their first or second doses, and to return to the masking and social distancing Israel thought it had left behind—but has begun to reinstate.”

The link you posted is a 404. This is the actual link:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-08-21/science-can-t-keep-up-with-virus-creating-worry-for-vaccinated
From the above article, the excerpt indicates the actual reason for delta infections among vaccinated people is not esablished:
“Case studies and data from some states in the U.S. have similarly shown an increase in breakthrough cases over time. But with the delta variant also on the rise, it’s difficult to tell whether waning immunity to any type of coronavirus infection is to blame, or if the vaccinations are particularly ineffective against the delta variant. It could be both, of course. Changing behavior among vaccinated people could be a factor, too, as they return to social gatherings and travel and dining indoors.”
Another excerpt:
““The big picture here is that the vaccines are working and the reason for the spike in the U.S. is we have too little vaccine uptake,” Frieden said. To a certain extent, breakthrough cases of any virus are expected. In clinical trials, no Covid vaccine was 100% effective — even the best vaccines never are. The more the virus is in circulation, the greater the risk of breakthrough cases. It’s also common for some aspects of viral immunity to naturally wane over time.”

You absolutely did not read the full article and again cherrypicked. Go through the article again and see what it mentions about vaccine effectiveness. Excerpt:
“Does this mean the vaccines are ineffective? Far from it, it’s what we would expect from an effective but imperfect vaccine, a risk profile that varies hugely by age and the way the vaccines have been rolled out.”

YOUR COMMENTS: “There also studies about various natural medicines proving even simple vitamins offered 100% reduction in sars cov 2 infections, and there are also 39 ivermectin studies proving it’s effectiveness in sars 2 patients, so it’s not like you need vaccines to stay healthly.”
You need vaccines to protect against C-19. Vaccines do not suddenly make you more healthy than you already are. Vaccines reduces the chances of getting infected, but they are not 100% foolproof. But not getting vaccinated is the stupidest thing you could do for yourself and those around you.
YOUR COMMENTS: “But believe what Media and your government is telling you and just take your vaccine and boosters. Each year you will be forced take a new booster”
I believe in scientific data and nothing else. So far there has been no scientific evidence against being vaccinated. Even the links you posted above always stress the importance of getting a shot and taking necessary precautions.
Omg, this is even worse than I thought! No ray tracing… What people to do with dlss!
Absolutely amazing game.
To this day I don’t see what’s so good about it.
The gameplay is repetitive and unenjoyable.
At least Max Payne was a spectacle that actually took skill
Atmosphere is amazing in Alan wake
The story, atmosphere and graphics, also had good voice acting and even had a Mexican Spanish dub.
this is one of the game that you play mainly for it’s story. for example when you find any radio in the game and then you can hear all the chit chat. it gives you the back story and things that happen inside the game. i can hear all the talks and did not feel bored by it. to me that is one way how to enjoy alan wake as a game. if you play the game just for the action alone then yes it can be boring very fast.
did you play it when it came out? did you like the concert?
this is when sam lake took notes from stephen king and not internet scp threads. so you could say it’s a stephen king game.
also they had to cut a lot of stuff to get it running on a 360.
My issue is how unsatisfying it feels, maybe with a gamepad keeping a light on an enemy is more challenging, but with a mouse it’s just pointless busywork.
What’s the point then?
Never played it want too. Do you think the new one will be worth it to pirate it?
Hoping Fitgirl provides lol
The original uses Dx 9 only not 11
aka.. dont buy it lol
“would have taken resources away from other critical areas”
It’s an EGS exclusive so my money will be directed to any other area, critical or otherwise.
#MakePiracyGreatAgain
At least is has additional bushes…
No HDR? Next month Windows 11 will add HDR to original PC version by Auto HDR and old version will look better than new game on any modern display
This game looks great with HDR enabled
You must be a fxcking brainwashed ape to be hyped for a demaster of such low quality on PC.
I will seed this to 1000 ratio due to the obvious disrespect from those shxtstains at Remedy. Putting $30 price tag on what otherwise should be a free update to existing owners of the original? It can’t be more obvious that the dev doesn’t give a single fxck about PC userbase when they did absolutely nothing to the port but apparently it was too time consuming to add the much more obvious features. HDR too time consuming, let’s have more bushes instead.

U want free remaster update for 9 years old game… I mean are you healthy?
No, he’s not a corporate slave. Making excuses for a multi-million $ company like you are. Ever heard of making a loss leader as a good will gesture to please and thus retain long term customers? That’s essentially the point of the fortnightly free games released on Epic Game Store. I fully expect Epic to giveaway this remaster for free as soon as they announce Alan Wake 2 or whatever Remedy game that Epic is bankrolling.
Even POS company 2K Games (part of Take 2 Interactive) gave free remasters to existing owners of Bioshock 1,2 and Mafia 2 on PC.
What you are asking is for them to do a free job on their older title, so your demanding a*s can play it without letting anyone earn their money.
I mean I agree with hdr part being dissaponting, but its up to them and their policy if they will make it for free or money. And then you can b*tch if its worth the money or just sucking your wallet like mass effect remasters did.
One day epic will give you horse sh*t and you will cry because as a good slave you expected more but didnt buy anyrhing
Damn capitalism.
I haven’t been an Epic customer since probably Shadow Complex Remastered. Don’t care one iota if they stop giving out free games to entice people into using their lacklustre game shop.
I’m not owed a complimentary copy, but they aren’t owed my money either. I already own the game legit on Steam and Xbox 360. If I can be bothered, I’ll pirate this Alan Wake remaster.
Your appeals to emotion shaming tactics won’t work on me. I don’t care.
HDR looks bad only on cheap displays. Check if your display support real HDR for example True Black 600 or just emulated DisplayHDR. You need at least DisplayHDR 1000 to see HDR results (not perfect). Anything below is waste of money. For Dolby Vision you need real True Black display
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/4ad4e71aa04e2633631ecfd6fc8099fcecdb55d37e14bab2a513e898b6a1ac99.jpg
HDR600 still shows HDR very well.
HDR 1000 have 2x better blacks than HDR 500-600, only 0.05 cd/m2. Good black is important in HDR
Yes which is why Samsung uses VA panels so even 600hdr looks amazing.
“Even 600 nits OLED will show more impressive dark scenes than 1500 LCD”
True. This is why Samsung change their mind and start own OLED TV named QD-Display
No Raytracing, no buy. This was the perfect game to go “all out” with the tech.
Not even HDR in a game where light and pure darkness plays a role…is absolutely lazy.
HDR is game changing on games that do HDR well and if you have an HDR600 display or above. Horizon Zero Dawn for example is a completely different experience in HDR vs SDR.
Most of PC gamers use cheapest displays. It is very common to buy expensive GPU for 1000-1500 usd and connect it to cheap display for less than 400 usd. You can’t buy good HDR display below 2000 usd
On consoles this is different. Usually you buy big TV for 2500-3000 usd because it is used not only for games but also for movies and more
The Samsung Odyssey monitors run from $500 to $2000 and if they are hdr600 and above compliant they look fantastic because of their VA panel technology.
Most of PC gamers use cheapest displays. It is very common to buy expensive GPU for 1000-1500 usd and connect it to cheap display for less than 400 usd. You can’t buy good OLED display below 2000 usd
“Too much work. Ain’t bothered.”
So why release the Remaster? DLSS for an 11 year old game?
It already ran fine.
most likely game engine limitation. if i remember correctly this game was originally released for 7th gen console. if they want to add RT and HDR they might as well make a full remake (instead of re-remaster) of the game using newer engine. other than that yes this new remaster probably unneeded. but this is most likely made for PS5/Series X. the pc version is just an afterthought.
HDR looks bad only on cheap displays HDR 400. They are waste of money. This is sad that those HDR 400 and HDR 600 displays was even created . All modern TV support HDR 1000 or Dolby Vision with much better quality
Remedy don’t use full power of Xbox consoles. In Control they had deal with Sony so Xbox can’t support higher resolution than slower PS5.
Deal was revealed by Digital Foundry because Remedy forgot to lock FPS in picture mode. They found that Xbox performance in this mode run at 60 fps and PS5 at 40 fps. Standard game was locked at 30 fps on both consoles.
HDR would have been nice
Dude HDR makes a huge difference. There’s way more details (in the highlights / shadows) and even flat looking game can start looking three dimensional. HDR displays more details and you are saying it looks ugly. Higher resolution also looks ugly to you compared to low resolution?
Oof from that image reminds me of all the obnoxious flashes when using the flair gun, game is almost unbearable at points for me due to that. I suppose if it’s not 30gb I’d get the gratis version, tbh the original pc edition is enough. I liked the glorified dlc American Nightmare as well.
No HDR with a game that is all about Bright lights and Darkness, what absolute f*king bullsh*t, I will not be giving them my money.
Few extra bushes are more important than ray-tracing… No, thanks.
Would be nice to have a trailer or something at least
