And the rumors were true. Remedy has just confirmed and officially announced Alan Wake Remastered, which will release this Fall. Now although Remedy has not specified any exact release date, the rumor hinted at an October 5th release. So yeah, we can assume that that date is valid.
Unfortunately, Remedy did not reveal any major details about this upcoming remaster. The team did state though that it has overhauled the game’s graphics, including the character model of Alan Wake himself and the cinematics. Additionally, it has implemented some “choice next-generation upgrades.”
My guess is that Alan Wake Remastered will be using the Northlight Engine and will support Ray Tracing effects. This is an assumption – at this point – as Remedy has not revealed any tech details about this remaster yet.
Alan Wake Remastered will be coming exclusively via Epic Games Store on PC.

This game wasn’t even that great. You run through a forest and just shoot your flashlight on random spirits. It was ok but highly forgettable.
The story and flashlight thing and graphics were cool.
My main problem was that any game in which the main mechanic is batteries that last 30 seconds, automatically loses any sense for me. It’s forced crap.

I’m Max Payne 1-2 generation and I disliked Alan Wake.
When did you play it? back then? I played it last year for the first time and it was eyewatering compared to the utter sh*t we get these days. We were truly spoiled with great narrative action games around 2009.
Releasing in just under a month they choose to announce the game mainly with PR gibberish that gives no info at all. Sell the remaster not your life stories lmao. Seeing that the announcement is weak and the timeframe to launch is very short means they have nothing much to say about the remaster. At least they have some honesty left…

Reality; Timmy approached you and paid in millions to mod some random game that sold on steam at a 95% discount a few years ago.
At least Ubisoft still has the decency to release free 4K textures for some of their games that require it, but now Remedy will charge you full price to get that feature.
PC remasters should be banned, be free or have seriously more effort put into them. The trend with Mass Effect, Crysis, Diablo and the likes getting “modernized” is honestly the cheapest cash grab there could ever be.
Ubisoft had decency not to release “remasters” on PC like AC2 trilogy, AC Rogue, FC1 and FC3.

The two things I remember about this game was that the camera angle was awkward for me and the game always crashed at the same point. Flipping a light switch in a house. Maybe this version will be better and I can finish it now.

why should they? When engineers have to go in and make substantial changes to the codebase to make it work on new machines using new APIs, redo artwork and add extra features, what makes you think it’s ok to demand a free upgrade? When the new Knights of the Republic comes out, will you demand a free upgrade? Should Demon Souls have been a free upgrade to all playstation owners who had the original?
As a business, they have the right to produce anything they want and charge anything they want for it, as a consumer you have the choice to buy it or not.
There is a huge difference between a simple remaster with some new 3D models here and there and a full remake of the game.
If you look at direct comparisons, it’s already showing more detailed geometry in models and maps, redone textures, redone lighting, better post effects like a new DOF effect, better bloom and HDR. I didn’t say it was a remake, but all of these art changes, engine upgrades and porting efforts for new formats and apis, not to mention an actual port for a machine that never had it originally, these things take time and cost money to produce, they have every right to charge money for it.
Remastered? No.
Remake? Yes.
I hope they go above and beyond to make it as appealing as it can be to minorities as well because this game is from an era that having a hetrosexual white male protagonist was a syndrome that most devs suffered from. thankfully the industry as a whole grew out of their idiocy and ignorance.
My suggestion would be gender and ethnicity diversification as a start. allowing players and especially LGBT+ community to play as the gender that they identify with would a great addition to have.
