KOEI Tecmo has released a PC demo for SAMURAI WARRIORS 5 on Steam. As such, PC gamers can test this new SAMURAI WARRIORS game prior to its official launch.
SAMURAI WARRIORS 5 takes place after the end of the Onin War, during the Sengoku period. The game tells the story of two military commanders of this period – Nobunaga Oda, and Mitsuhide Akechi. This title includes various eras from this period, including the younger years of Nobunaga and the period of turmoil and upheaval leading to the Honno-ji Incident.
Omega Force has re-imagined and redesigned all of the game’s character designs. In total, SAMURAI WARRIORS 5 features 27 playable characters. These include both new and returning warriors, from Ieyasu Tokugawa and Hideyoshi Hashiba to N?, and Yoshimoto Imagawa. The team has also added an original character Mitsuki, a Koga Ninja. Furthermore, it plans to add other new characters at a later date.
In addition, the game features all-new Musou actions, including newly designed Musou Frenzy Attacks. These actions are displayed in a vibrant new Japanese ink painting art style, elegantly evolving the SAMURAI WARRIORS series to showcase the Sengoku period in stunning fashion as the intertwining stories of Nobunaga and Mitsuhide unravel on screen like a Sengoku period picture scroll.
SAMURAI WARRIORS 5 releases on July 27th, and you can download its demo from here!

Put about an hour into the demo, I can say for sure…this game is a hard pass for me, even as someone who’s played and beat multiple KoeiTecmo games this year. The game looks like worse cell-shaded, low quality, sprite animation crap that belongs on the Switch or some mobile device.
