NVIDIA’s CES 2021 keynote begins in a couple of minutes, however, a slide from that presentation got leaked. This slide confirms the rumored RTX 3060 with the 12GB of VRAM. So yeah, it’s now official; the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB VRAM is real and is coming out in late February.
According to NVIDIA, the GeForce RTX 3060 12GB will have 13 TFLOPs single-precision compute performance with up to 25 TFLOPs in raytracing and up to 101 Tensor-FLOPS in AI-related operations.
Videocardz has shared the following slide, as well as a comparison graph between the new RTX3060 12GB and the RTX3060Ti.

Sounds about right. Nvidia makes nice GPUs but they suck as a company.

I don’t know where this exponential growth in VRAM usage came from but it’s was only a few years ago where 4gb was considered plenty.

From what I have seen the 3060 Ti is around 20% faster than the 1080 Ti. Not sure about what the performance the non Ti 3060 will be. I don’t think it will be that much more than a 1080 Ti but I don’t consider it to be much of an upgrade for you.
Also availability with all Amperes is a problem so if you find one in stock when released you will probably pay higher than MSRP.
Now that is the true RTX 3060.
I’d rather get more Vram than an extra bump in performance in the long run, unless you are switching GPUs every two years.

If it wasn’t for AMD and their 16GB cards out the gate, this would never happened. Nvidia would’ve continued down the road of giving people these so called “worlds fastest cards” with 8GB of Vram which is utterly useless come this generation. Even Stevie Wonder can see what just happened here. But Nvidia will still win because atleast they have stock, AMD out here releasing vapor.
