The Witcher 2 mod for The Witcher 3

This mod brings the atmosphere of The Witcher 2 to The Witcher 3

Modder ‘ridman’ has released a pretty cool mod for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This “Witcher 2 Overhaul” mod aims to bring the atmosphere and visual style of the second Witcher game to The Witcher 3.

According to the modder, Witcher 2 Overhaul brings new weathers, UI, lighting and soundtracks to the game. These new additions aim to let you experience the atmosphere of The Witcher 2 in The Witcher 3.

Version 1.2 fixes some issues with vanilla inventory borders appearing in some cases (after using selection mode). It also fixes the positioning of default icons on all slots and rearranges some slots. Furthermore, it adds circular backgrounds to slots that previously did not have them, and fixes directional movement from slot to slot (for use with a controller or arrow keys).

In order to showcase this mod, the modder has shared the following screenshots. These screenshots will give you a glimpse at the game’s new art style.

What’s also cool here is that this mod is compatible with the HD Reworked Project.

Lastly, CD Projekt RED has announced a next-gen version of The Witcher 3 that will be free on the PC. This next-gen version will feature new Ray Tracing effects. As such, it will be interesting to see whether this new version will be compatible with all the mods that are currently available for its vanilla version.

        1. I just pointed one out, witcher 2.
the reason you think like that is because I hate some of the most popular games that sheep gamers love, specifically anything with dark souls f4ggy combat system.
I hate 2d pixelated games, anything with dark souls combat system, turn base games (mostly not all) , walking sims and anything inspired by japanese cartoons.
these genres are played mostly by autists, f4ggots and pedos.

      1. TW2 is pretty much TW3 with 10 times less budget, and talking about visual atmosphere it had this horrible yellow/red tint, why the hell i would add it to TW3 ? I already hate it in B&W expansion

        1. when I play witcher 3 it looks like everyone’s skin is made of plastic, they look like dolls and the combat feels and sounds like a combination of a garbage soul clone and ninja fruit . it feels like all you do is spam roll button then cut paper or fruit, that’s the combat. compare that to gritty atmosphere and weighty combat in witcher 2, that alone shets all over bicher 3.

          1. The combat system in TW2 is a beta of the one in TW3, more or less the same but less responsive, with a clunky lock system and underwhelming witcher signs and gore, not to forget these absurd cutscene finish moves that stops everything around lol, as for the atmosphere we are in the very same setting just with a different context and of course, no yellow tint making the game feel like a 70s themed movie, TW1 atmosphere is way better than TW2

          2. what? if combat in witcher 2 is the beta version then why does witcher 3 feels and sounds like cutting paper and fruits? go play fruit ninja on your phone right now and tell me it doesn’t feel more weighty and satisfying than bicher 3’s combat. you are either high on something or play with controllers.

          3. TW2 has a controller/console focus too, it smells and tastes consoles, only TW1 was a pure PC title, just saying, i liked all of the three

          4. no anyone who played it with a controller would tell you it was a nightmare fighting crowds. 1 and 2 were both great, 3 was dog shet.

          5. If you think the combat system and feeling of TW3 is somehow bad how can you enjoy TW1 lol ? It has one of the most boring combat systems ever made, don’t get me wrong i like TW1 but the combats are more boring than Fruit Ninja

  1. idk… is ray tracing a meme? like i wanted to get it for 2077…. but then i hear a xbox-s can do hdr on xbx1-xbx2-xbx3 and they hinted at ray tracing for xb1-xb2…. i feel like consoles paid this generation for certain things that would make 90% of pc players doubt. Theres no reason to buy 3070-3090 gpu / amd`s new meme cpu that is 10-15% more powerfull but at a 100$ extra premium? am i crazy? all these cpu/gpu companies OBVIOUSLY work with the console companies….. ITS OUT IN THE OPEN!

    1. ray tracing is not a meme but it is heavy on your GPU one of the best games IMO to implement ray tracing is Control. Also, CPU/GPU prices are gonna incress AMD practically is running circles around intel. + yes they work with consoles but you have to understand consoles are heavy on CPU and Not GPU’s + Consoles will always be less powerful than a PC but Hardware is always advancing so if your not willing to shill some money on the newest CPU out now just wait, it’ll become cheaper next year

      1. It’s entirely dependent on the game, it’s implementation of ray tracing, and whether or not it has DLSS or some other form of temporal reconstruction.

I have an RTX 2060 and I get 60fps in Control w/ all RT enabled on my 1080p laptop, provided I have Quality DLSS enabled.

        Again, depends on the game.

    2. I understand what you’re saying.

PC gaming will always have its inherent advantages, like cheaper games, multiple marketplaces, expandability, modding, etc.

But this new console generation is offering $500 standalone machines that are easily more powerful than the vast majority of gaming rigs, and offer perhaps the best price-to-performance ratio since the late 90s.

      1. That’s for now, they’re not even released yet, 2 years after release the average gaming rig will be better than those consoles.
And talking about 90s PC Gaming was WAAAAAAAAAY superior, not only in performance but the PC games were more diverse and ambitious too, the best price/perf ratio for consoles was IMO the early years of the 7th gen

    3. 3800x was $399, the 5800x is $449….where are you getting this $100 premium from? did we all forget the 1800x was $500 on release?

  2. I never could quite enjoy the combat mechanics of Witcher 2. I’m hoping that I don’t need the story of Witcher 2 to play the remastered Witcher 3. I never quite got the time to play it, even owning the game on Steam for years!
