The Open Beta phase for Marvel’s Avengers will begin later today on the PC. Moreover, Crystal Dynamic has pushed a new update that brings some improvements over its Closed Beta build.
According to the team, the Open Beta patch features several fixes that will solve or at least improve the severe stutters/lag and irregular performance that some PC gamers have been experiencing. Thus, it will be interesting to see whether the game will run better. Naturally, we’ll be sure to share our initial performance impressions once the Open Beta phase begins.
Additionally, this update packs multiple improvements and optimizations made to matchmaking. It also comes with a variety of fixes for crashes. Furthermore, it decreases the amount of motion blur during sprint and flight, and adds an option in Settings to adjust Camera Shake Sensitivity.
Naturally, Steam will download and apply this patch automatically to your game. Below you can also find its complete changelog.
Marvel’s Avengers PC Open Beta Update Release Notes
- We have seen how some people struggled with severe stutters/lag and irregular performance and we have made several fixes that will solve or at least improve those.
- We’ve implemented a variety of fixes for crashes seen during last weekend. These include certain older systems not being able to launch at all, but also some that occurred rarely during gameplay.
- We will keep monitoring for other crashes and will release updates as we have them.
- Multiple improvements and optimizations made to matchmaking.
- Changed default settings to wide combat camera distance, heavy targeting assistance (for gamepad) and matchmaking disabled.
- Added an option in Settings to adjust Camera Shake Sensitivity.
- Decreased amount of motion blur during sprint and flight.
- We have made fixes for issues surrounding microphone handling and muting other players.
- We have addressed some graphical issues, for example when using SSSR while having TAA turned off.
- Additionally, we have solved issues with the Dynamic Screen Resolution feature, especially when it was combined with HBAO+.
- With those fixes we recommend turning on Dynamic Screen Resolution again (at your desired minimum frame-rate) to ensure you are able to stick to your desired frame-rate no matter how hectic the game gets.
- Improvements to vaulting.
- Decreased delay of loot drops.
- We have brought in some initial improvements to our support for ultra-wide and super-ultrawide screens, with us planning more for launch.
- Various other smaller fixes and improvements.

tried the”beta”, its a demo honestly, releasing in 2 weeks but anyway yea gave it a shot, 27 crashes in a row. PC far exceeds reccommended hardware, turned off all overclock profiles, tried different drivers for my 2080 and still crashes consistently. as we all expected its a dumpster fire. funny enough though as i was actually able to play for 10 min or so, i was getting north of 95fps on 1440p mix of high and ultra settings with DOF and Motion Blur off completely
“Decreased amount of motion blur during sprint and flight.”
– HOW ABOUT, they give people the option to turn off that garbage. I don’t have any skin in the game because I sure as hell won’t be playing this. Turn off that rubbish completely. These effects in videos games are so dull & stupid.
Amen brother!
just played what little i could of the beta since it crashes 100% of the time and they do have motion blur as an option able to be turned off completely which is what i did
“skin in the game”
excellent book, highly recommend reading it.
I just tried the demo and you can turn [ OFF ] everything, so Motion Blur, DOF, AA, etc basically you have full control over everything and it has solid graphical options. This is basically a juiced up version of the Shadow Of The Tomb Raider engine minus ray tracing(for now, word is they are going to add it).
Here are the screens of the options, you just click the Settings on the launcher to turn off what ever you want:

Yes I understand that and know that they will have option to turn off motion blur, I’ll give em that. But what I’m talking any is the blur that’s attached to abilities and everyday quality of life in the game. A perfect example is Just Cause 3&4. You can turn motion blur off but the blur that’s associated with movement and sky diving/grappling is/will always be there. So like hulks rush or iron Man’s flight or Thor’s flight may contain these things. And they never allow you to kill these “filters” seperarely. That’s what I meant. But with that said, are you having fun?
I just played it for a bit and I see what you mean I think motion blur effects are tied tot the moves which is mental. I don’t understand who thinks motion blur is a cool effect(personally I hate it), the cases where it works is very rare but to have it on 24/7 is just crazy. I already feel sort of sick as if the FOV was really bad so it has to be this effect and I am even playing it on 5760×1080.
So yeah I totality get what you mean now, they need an option to turn that off ASAP cause it is ruining the game. Also why We still have quick action events in games is beyond Me.
Got say one thing it sure seems really optimized I was shocked I could play it on Ultra at 5760×1080 at 60 FPS. I got a 1080 Ti and 1950x but still, I heard a lot are having issues guess it like a lot of cores, who knows?
Oh man, good to hear. But when I see the resolution you put up, I was like, “Damn”…! But you’re also using an HEDT. Still regret never making my last build an HEDT. That’s my dream for the future. Too bad this is being published by Square Enix. Square and there love affair with Denuvo.
Yeah the rez is pretty amazing on My old 42″ screens x3, I really love it! Dude HEDT 4L|F3, it really is something especially if you also use your computer for work like I do. Crazy thing is more and more I have seen how such a setup can really make a huge diff in games. The extra logical cores, fast IO, and large memory pool all really pay off.
I was even able to drop My 1950x to 2.7Ghz By the Win power edit setting to 80% which under clocks the CPU and it still ran MA at Ultra 60FPS. Shows that the games that are coded properly to all the CPU cores really don’t need fast CPU Mhz anymore, cores really matter.
Man if you wait for a Zen 3 or 4 HEDT setup you will be set for a very long time, I can’t even imagine Zen 4 and all pimped out in PCIe 5 for that will be truly insane! Just save and once you do HEDT with all this new Gen of PC tech it will be truly amazing setup that you can sit on for a very long time.
Yeah the obsession that some publisher have with Denuvo is sad, I really hope Serious Sam 4 has record sales to show that you don’t need DRM.
