Need for Speed next-gen early prototype PC gameplay footage leaked

Back in June 2020, EA shared a teaser video for its upcoming Need for Speed game that will be targeting next-gen platforms. And, from the looks of it, some really early prototype gameplay footage for Criterion’s new Need for Speed game has been leaked online.

YouTube’s ‘BlackPanthaa’ was the first one that shared the following video which shows some early prototype footage from the next-gen Need for Speed game. Do note that this is a really early build, meaning that there are a lot of placeholders.

What’s really interesting here is that this is PC gameplay footage. Not only that, but this build is from June 2020, meaning that this is what the game currently looks like.

Now while the game’s graphics are nowhere close to being complete, we can at least take a look at how the game handles. And, as we can clearly see, this next-gen Need for Speed game will be an arcade racing game. Furthermore, it will most likely feature an open-world environment.

Perhaps it’s just me, but I really love watching such early builds of upcoming games. Truth be told, this is nowhere close to an alpha build. However, it’s fascinating watching a prototype version of an upcoming triple-A game.

Do note that things may change as this Need for Speed game is in active development. Thus, the final game may have a completely different handling or controls.

There is currently no ETA on when this next-gen Need for Speed game will come out. My guess is that Criterion may be targeting a 2021/2022 release. We can also assume that this new NFS game is using the Frostbite Engine.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

    1. cornering is more arcade-ish than Need for Speed Heat. It now has that “Criterion” feeling.

      1. to me most wanted 2012 was awful because cars were impossible to turn, when i heard that i was like DEAR GOD NO NOT CRITERION AGAIN, NOT ANOTHER BURNOUT, but after seeing this and how the dev took that turn in that elevated blue drifting platform, its clear the game has the nfs heat/2015 break to drift mechanics….for now.

    2. dude you can see the heat showroom lights when he selects the car and loads a race also it says “palm city”

Also worth to point out that the smoke and trail lines are cartoonish proving that most of those indie games simply dont have textures.

  1. If they finally make a racing game that is 60 fps on console I may try it. otherwise I’m hard out.
There are just too many better games that are 60 fps. With Ryzen in the next gen there is no excuse at this point.

    1. I have a PC, but for racing games my 55″ OLED and 7.1 surround sound on a big recliner is definitely preferable.

  2. Looks like Payback. They are just building a new city for you to drive around in for the next installment.

  3. How can we be sure it’s not NFS from 5-6 years ago? I honestly can’t tell a difference anymore

    1. Maybe it was in some of the alpha builds, its not like its some groundbreaking feature that would take months to implement or remove.

  4. Can we just start calling this garbage what it actually is from now on? Like……news? There is no “leak”. Does that look like a “leak”, to you?

No indsutry, and I mean NONE, is THIS f**king leaky, where every single headline anymore, involves a “leak”.

So tired of stupid wording to generate hype from people with s**t for brains. It’s both irritating, and insulting to have to sit here and pretend this is normal.

  5. 5 minutes…i can’t stand the creature talking in the video. The “game” itself…i think they should let NFS die for a couple of years, and reviving it with something refreshing, maybe go back to the classics…you know, exotic cars…circuits that you have to learn and a challenging AI. Stop the overall open world crap.
