Now here is a pleasant surprise. Square Enix has released a new update for Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age that removes the Denuvo anti-tamper tech.
Alongside the removal of Denuvo, Square Enix has added a Job reset function. Moreover, this latest update expands the Gambit system to 3 sets.
Now while the removal of Denuvo is good news, some users have reported that the game is not launching after applying this latest update. In case you encounter launch or crash issues, we suggest copying steam_api64.dll to the \FFXII\x64 folder. Or you can simply follow this guide.
For those wondering, Square Enix has not removed yet the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from Final Fantasy XV.

nice
I didn’t buy it back in the day due to that cancer, I guess I’ll do so now!
They removed it because they bought the Denuvo licence for a specific duration and this time is almost over. And at the same time this serves as cheap advertisement.
so you are saying ubisoft buys denuvo for life?
Assuming that he games still selling relatively good after 3-4 years, maybe thats the reason….. look at GTA V for example, its cracked years ago but still selling very good.
LMAO The element that makes it selling good wasn’t cracked.
You’ve never heard of people renewing a subscription ?
Here’s a list of tips to help you understand something obvious about this situation:
– Square Enix bought the Denuvo license to secure launch window
– At some point the game was cracked
– It’s not a game as a service (or multiplayer) so it wasn’t really going to be a long seller anyway (and they won’t update it significantly)
– It’s a remaster of a game released in 2006
– By removing it instead of paying an additional renewal fee, they appear to be good guys to a specific crowd
Now why would they pay to renew that license ?
You’re comparing that to ubisoft, Ubi uses denuvo on recent games, on multiplayer games, on games with a ton of DLC, on “GAS”, it’s worth it for them to renew the Denuvo license because the units sold more than cover the expense. Meanwhile, it’s not worth it for square enix because it does not or not in a significant way for this specific game.
And that’s not even going into specific agreements between companies, Denuvo could have sold the licence to Ubi for multiple uses, Ubi renews that offer and it’s not really specific to titles. I’m not saying that’s the case here, I don’t know, but it’s very likely and a common thing.
Ok,now remove all devuno in your old Japanese+western PC games catalog…
Square Enix removing Denuvo? Now that’s unusual.
Remember, those are the same pieces of shiits who THANKED that cancer called Denuvo.

Yeah, I never for got the “false positive thanking”. I hate Square Enix the most in the whole industry.. . After 2013, they went straight evil.
Because they helped fund it
They have a partnership with them and were some of the first to use the DRM.
Holy Schitt, it keeps getting worse. I didn’t know that, PARTNERSHIP you say. It all makes sense now, my hate just amplified x1000. Thank you for this valuable info.
Why not start removing DENUVO from the rest of your freakin games. Square Enix almost NEVER remove Denuvo.
I’ve owned Rise Of The Tomb Raider for 4 years and GUESS WHAT? If i don’t boot this game up every 4-7 days WHILE being online, in order to check in with DENUVO servers, I cannot play ROTTR. And neither can anyone else. But you know who have no problem playing this game OFFLINE, 24/7’s? PIRATES!!!. So my question is and no one can answer this. After all these years, who is DENUVO protecting the game from? Pirates or me the PAYING CUSTOMER…
A PIRATES LIFE FOR ME!!!
Exactly…. honestly, they should remove the damn protection after 2-4 years (depending on ihow long it is still popular, sales after couple of years etc.) and bring the games to gog.com. Some might buy it…. better something than nothing. Basically, its a shame that pirates get a better game in the long run…..
One drop of clean water in a bucket full of sh*t that is Square Enix. I doubt they intend to open the tap.
That’s a very good example. I gotta use that one. Thanks man ?
Heh, np
