Half-Life: Alyx is a new VR Half-Life game that came out last week. And it appears that the first major mod for it is currently under way. No no, we are not talking about the non-VR mod. We’re talking about a brand new VR mod that lets you explore City 17 from Half Life 2.
Unfortunately, this mod is not yet available for download. Still, modder ‘Vect0R’ released the following video that showcases this Half-Life 2 City 17 mod in action.
Basically, Vect0R took the original map file and converted to Source 2 format and added it to Half-Life: Alyx. In process, he also converted assets of Half-Life 2 to Half-Life: Alyx.
The result is pretty cool, however, this mod is currently a tech demo. Still, the good news is that the modder plans to release to the public a more polished version in the future.
Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!

The engine is flawless, so are the new assets, a Black Mesa quality level remake for HL2 would be great, hope it will not take 14 years tho…
Guess we should be hoping for a HL2 remake before the end of the year
For just porting perhaps… A remake would take a lot more time, more than you think considering it will be made by fans
Screw a non-VR Alyx.. people really now only care about converting HL2 to play like Alyx does. Hell yeah!
HL2 already has a VR option, and isn’t really great, especially the combats
Yeah, because I haven’t heard anything about it in years is why I’ve pretty much dismissed it.
On the other hand HLA is going to be the sh*tiest game of the year on flat screen, i don’t why people are excited for that Frankenstein…
Yep
