John Jarvis has released a really cool mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This mod, called “Destructible Skyrim – Breakable Objects”, allows players to destroy various environmental objects. Now I don’t know about you, but I’m really glad that someone is finally bringing destructible objects to Skyrim.
As the modder noted, players can now smash objects to pieces and watch the physics-enabled debris fly everywhere.
“This is a small sample of what is to come for testing purposes. This mod has only been tested on a clean, mod free save for a short amount of time which is why this is a beta. There could be incompatibilities so you should make another save before installing this mod.”
Its first release currently allows you to destroy barrels, chairs and many nordic ruins pots and urns.
Do note that you will get a bounty if you destroy objects in shops, taverns and people’s homes. Also, a small satchel will drop from destroyed containers so you can retrieve the contents of the container should you break it.
The destroyed objects will be returned to their default undamaged condition after 24 in game hours. Moreover, any loot from damaged containers will be reset so you’ll have to grab anything important straight away.
Back in 2015, Jarvis released a video showcasing some of the destructible objects that he has been working on. Unfortunately, the modder had to start from scratch. As such, a lot of these objects aren’t part of this release. Still, this video will give you an idea of what you can expect from future versions.

Things never work like that. Obviously there will be some people who give in and pull the trigger if there isn’t a pirated version available for some time. Those are the sales they’re looking for.
