Following the release of the AI-enhanced HD Texture Pack for the first The Witcher game, modder ‘hub997’ released a similar mod for the second part in the Witcher series. According to the modder, this pack has clearer and more realistic textures thanks to artificial intelligence.
Going into more details, this HD Texture Pack features 4K upscaled textures for main characters and monsters, as well as 2K upscaled textures for citizens, villagers, guards, knights and animals.
The modder also plans to add some optional mods with better textures and increase the texture resolution of walls, objects, weapons, vegetation, terrain, and more.
This 4K/2K AI-enhanced Texture Pack for The Witcher 2 is 2GB in size and you can download it from here. The modder has also provided some settings needed to load these new 4K textures.
Last but not least, hub997 provided some comparison screenshots between the vanilla (left) and the AI-enhanced textures (right). As with most AI-enhanced packs, the visual differences are subtle but noticeable (you’ll need to open the images in new tabs).

All these AI enhanced textures always barely look any better. And at the size of the downloads they are totally not worth your bandwidth or hdd space.
Seriously. Just download fan made hi-res texture packs if available. They usually are well compressed and look insanely better than stock textures.
Bandwidth is unlimited and hdd space is plentiful. Any improvements are still improvements… Stop crying over options buddy, because that makes you sound like a sour console peasant! Options are always welcome, even though you might not use it, it’s there for people who might want it, and that’s still better than no option at all.
Bandwidth is not unlimited for everyone, depends where you are from and location. Hard drives are not cheap. Not every one can afford large disk drives.

Options are good to have. But they should be good options you would actually want. You wouldn’t go to a buffet that serves sh*t food.

below is an example of a real re-texture that deserves all your praise because these people actually put some work into their project, spent countless hours redoing textures. Not letting some AI program do the work. While much of internet infrastructure in the US blows, hard drives are for a fact cheap. A 12tb drive is $399. It only gets cheaper as you decrease capacity – an 8 tb right now is like $160.
Then you have a suc*y plan buddy, who orders internet with a data limitation? It’s one thing if it’s cellular data for a phone. Mechanical HDD’s are cheap nowadays, don’t gimme this cr*p! 3TB HDD for about $80 and 8TB HDD for less than $200, 8 GB will last you forever lol.

Witcher 2 already had brilliant textures
It’s filled with low res textures, it might have been ok for 2011.
It’s not really that the textures are low res so much as the lighting in old redengine is garbage. Everything was super washed out because the specular strength on every texture was extremely high to mask the lack of detail. It still looks pretty decent for an 8 year old game but yea I won’t argue that it couldn’t be better.
Agree. Witcher 2 with ubersampling enabled still holds up pretty well.
Play this game for 10 minute,and uninstall it. Move to the Witcher 3,play for 5 hour and enjoy it,but quickly abandoned it and back to play Japanese games…
i never finished witcher 2, it was too linear with too much blah blah and not enough exploration and questing. The level design is corridor based in order to run on consoles and the sidequests are collectathons.

Forgot how good looking witcher 2 looked, i dare say i also prefered the color palette used in this game compared to the third game, and floatsam and its forest still blows me away even if the bloom is exaggerated
