Rainbow Six Brand Director: “the Rainbow Six solo/single player experience is dead”

It appears that Rainbow Six will abandon all single-player campaigns in the foreseeable future. Despite a certain amount of people wanting a single-player campaign, Rainbow Six Brand Director Alexandre Remy claimed that the solo/single-player experience for the Rainbow Six franchise is dead.

As Remy told DailyStar:

“No, no, no. The Rainbow Six solo/singleplayer experience is dead.

For Siege, forget about a solo campaign. We want this game to be a pure competitive multiplayer experience. All of our resources are going in that direction and to invest those resources elsewhere would be a digression.

When you have a game that requires so much support, and so much caring in patching and balancing, I don’t think you have the luxury to divert.

Our fans expect a certain level of quality and a mastery in our games that is extremely high. Why would you only make an OK-ish solo campaign?”

Remy does have a point here. Instead of offering a mediocre single-player experience, developers should definitely focus on what the vast majority of its fans wants. Still, it’s a bit disheartening hearing that we won’t be getting a single-player story-driven mode in the future Rainbow Six games.

Speaking of which, rumour has it that a new Rainbow Six game will be announced during Ubisoft’s E3 2019 press conference. This new Rainbow Six game is called Rainbow Six Quarantine and is a co-op PVE shooter.

  1. I never thought I would say this… f_ck you Ubisoft, I think I am done with them. You guys where right all the time, they really are going all in on MP and always online 🙁

LOL, just as Nier Automata just celebrated selling over 4 million copies of their SP only game that is also consider a “niche market title”.

Funny how Ghost Recon Wildlands had both a solid SP, MP as well as offline mode. Wonder how they achieved that in 2017 but not in 2019. GRW is > R6S anyways.

      1. Really?

I never got into GR after the first one because it always felt like an attempt by some Red Storm dev to try and mimic the Rainbow Six style and popularity.

    1. Game devs are always forgetful bunch. One day they were able to pull off something great but in another they suddenly claimed it’s impossible. Just like how Lucas Art claimed it’s impossible to make a PC port of Star Wars The Force Unleashed because of the new physics effects is too powerful for any PC. And yet, they have zero problem in porting the game to other less powerful consoles. Blizzard seem to forget that the PC can use any type of gaming peripherals in existence but only console players are allowed to use controllers for Diablo 3. Sony said it’s impossible to do cross-platforming but now Destiny 2 is able to do so across all major platforms.

  2. So Ubisoft is turning every IP into an open world shooter with RPG elements (mostly the huge EXP grind) and microtransactions (time savers/EXP boosts).

  3. Well. R6 is a success. No doubt they’re going to go further down this path. I’m fine with R6 being only competitive, just don’t make all the other games competitive only. Witcher, Doom are two cases where i’ve had much fun in single.

    1. That’s the problem though. R6 used to be one of the last true titles that was excellent in both single player campaign as well as mp.

That’s something they could strive for.

But not with people like this in charge, who probably don’t know the history of the franchise they were handed.

  4. Um…. I didn’t need this guy to tell me that. It’s been dead for the past decade+. That entire franchise is dead.

Calling this pile of digital s**t Rainbow Six, is like calling a fart, perfume.

    1. If you’re trying to give me a brain aneurysm with your colossal level of stupidity, then wow, you are doing a stellar job.

Keep doing you, bud. You are certainly in a league of your own. 🙂

    1. Agreed. Last R6 game was Raven Shield. Been dead since. The new games are not even R6 games but impersonators using its name.

  5. Not mention so many pirates nowadays that just pirate singleplayer games without thinking twice.

    1. Pirates… nowadays? Are you one of those melon heads who thinks piracy just exploded over the past decade or something? lol

Piracy has been around since the dawn of recordable media, yet, here we are today, and the media industry is bigger than ever, and still growing.

Spare us all your whining about “pirates”. They are a phantom scapegoat for industry shortcomings and rampant greed.

    2. Just to tell you something dear Fernando PIRATES ALSO BUY GAMES when they found that the game is worth buying and the developer deserve to be supported, But when you are $#!7 and you make $#!7 no one is going to give a 4@ck about you and your games.

    3. funny, one of the number 1 SINGLE PLAYER game “The Witcher 3” sold over 10 Million copies and almost half of the sales were on PC, and on top of that more sales were on GOG which has 0 DRM ,so anyone could of pirated it easily without a crack… and yet you say Pirates are the problem on PC?? LOL

CD ProjectRed proving trolls wrong over and over. love those guys.

  6. “Our fans expect a certain level of quality and a mastery in our games that is extremely high. ”

    hahahahahhahaha good one

Cant wait for blisters and ready or not

  7. Expect Ubisoft to turn every of their single-player game into multiplayer only. Ghost Recon is one of it and soon Assassin’s Creed going to be one. Sh*t tier company

      1. Easy. Just think of the greediest, sleaziest, most galactically stupid way you could do it. Got it in your mind? Good, that’s how Ubisoft would do it.

  8. I had some fun playing R6 with friends but I could never get past the horrific downgrade. Tbh I had way more fun with Raven Shield. I know people prefer action these days but could we please have at least one TC game that focuses on planning, strategy, etc? Unfortunately I think I ask too much from Ubisoft.

    1. “…..but could we please have at least one TC game that focuses on planning, strategy, etc?”

There’s nobody left at Ubisoft, with the aptitude to design a game like this. Being genuine here.

The only thing Ubisoft is good at these days, is separating morons from their money. They’re doing a top notch job of that though.

  9. Once upon a time they make some fantastic SP games. Ubisoft is a world apart Today, they no longer focus or support SP games, so sad now it’s a pure online games company.

    1. They never made fantastic SP games.

Rainbow Six was made by a different company. Ghost REcon was also made by that same company. Splinter Cell ok that counts.

      1. PlayStation version still 1 million times better than the sh*t recently released in the franchise.

  10. It’s dead because you greedy fckers turds killed it. Damn you and your greed you ruined every tom clancy’s IP fkin bastards.

    1. I wouldn’t go and say they’re all ruined, SC Blacklist was a good game imo. And i loved R6 for it’s competitiveness but true, single player wise, it’s lacking no doubt.

      1. You’re right they didn’t ruin everything, they wasted everything completely, blacklist was nothing compared to older SC, and Siege is absolute garbage from any point of view.

    2. They were all trash in the first place except R6 and the first GR and the first Splinter Cell. They never ever should have had another game with Clancy’s name on it. Like End War, no thanks, especially not Division or Watch Dogs which is based on Tom Clancy.

      1. Yeah that’s the same thing i’m saying. old Tom Clancy’s games were another thing completely.

  11. ubisoft getting coockey.. if it’s anyone’s fault it would be the gamers. they throw cash at them. while some of the salty pirates here.. ubisoft are swarming with money lol

    1. That’s the problem though. R6 used to be one of the last true titles that was excellent in both. Single player campaign as well as mp.

Siege is what it is, a grinding, repetitive as hell MP experience. LCD for fans who realized Ubisoft wasn’t going to continue the tradition.

    2. Unbelievable. You really need to get a clue.

Go to school. No, I don’t mean go BACK to school, because you’ve clearly never been there. GO TO SCHOOL!

  12. Let me know when this Remy clown is no longer in charge of this franchise. What an absolute moron.

You’re heading up an IP that that was created off of the great story telling of Tom Clancy, one of the greatest authors of the 20th century, and YOU DON’T THINK A CAMPAIGN IS A GOOD IDEA.

    GTFO Remy, you ****.

  13. Annnd, that’s Ubi written off completely.

Literally everything they make is now online based, copy+pasted, DRM filled and exclusive to EGS/Uplay.

Virtually no issue with me forgetting Ubisoft exists now that they forget about me.

I cannot wait for the day when they crumble though. I’ll be there with the smiles and champagne.

  14. I’m not surprised by this decision considering all the pirates here and elsewhere who brag how they pirate all the Ubisoft singleplayer games.

  15. No. No.

It’s dead because you bought the real Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchise from Red Storm and then proceeded to ruin it with crappy arcade games aimed at stupid casual millennials who never played real Rainbow Six/Rogue Spear. Raven Shield/Athena Sword was already pushing it as it completely removed the better parts of the game, but Vegas 1 and Vegas 2 were 2 of the worst games I’ve literally ever played. Complete arcade shooters replete with monster closets and enemies that magically appeared out of nowhere, non stop, all the time – out of thin air and blocked off alleys, in the super linear maps they bothered to put in.

It’s dead because the only brand recognition it has anymore is as a crappy, stupid, casualized pvp shooter aimed at gen-z kids and hurrdurrs who think that because they play a “popular” game “meant” for “esports” that they’re special and “competitive.”

No one wanted this game. They had a potentially good thing going with Patriots and then they cried like little girls because some conservative little crybabies got offended at A FICTIONAL situation, despite the REAL fact that “militias” have for a fact perpetrated some very public crimes in the past 10 years. Or because of that fact.

There are still real Rainbow Six fans right now who would gladly buy a modern version of the first game – which doesn’t work on modern computers. I would buy it hands down as long as it didn’t have any standard Ubi trash like season passes, seasons, DLC, any of that. Unlocking Ding Chavez for 9.99.

I know who I’m never buying a game from again. As if being forced to use uplay wasn’t already the final nail in the coffin.

Oh but the majority of people already playing Siege want more Siege so other fans can stfu and die.

  16. Seriously what universe does Ubisoft live in?? WTF

My favourite RainbowSix game had both. An amazing campaign and intense online experience. Vegas1. I will never forget those 3am sessions online or story. And the soundtrack was brilliant too! But it seems like Ubishit forgot a long time now how to make real quality games.

  17. Our game doesn’t have single player so single player is dead. thats what he really thinks, why bother with AI,sotry and level design when you can shove players into a map to kill each other. they can’t make good games anymore, so nothing of value has lost.
