Axiom Verge is available for free on Epic’s store until February 21st

Epic Games and Thomas Happ Games are currently offering for free Axiom Verge on Epic’s digital store. Axiom Verge is an action-platform-exploration game that’s not only created in intricate detail in the style of classics such as Metroid, Contra, and Master Blaster, but uses old-school “glitches” as a gameplay feature.

PC gamers can visit the game’s Epic store page and acquire their free copy. Do note that this free offer will last until February 21st so make sure to get it while you still can (well… that is provided you are interested in it).

Axiom Verge allows players to battle with nearly 70 unique creatures and gigantic screen-filling bosses, comes with a Speedrun Mode, features more than 900 unique, interlocking rooms, gobs of unique tools and abilities, loads of weapons, as well as tons of health/power/attribute upgrades.

Have fun!

  1. There’s tons of issues with Epic Games Store, but this game is quite good. I highly recommend checking this out if you like Metroidvanias, and you can’t beat free of course.

  2. The Epic Anti-Consumer Store actually doing something other than fellating publishers while giving players the finger? Hmmm… what’s the catch?

    1. It’s an ‘interesting’ two-pronged business strategy to be,

      – bribing gamers with free old games to use Epic Store, and
      – letting the devs they’re bought off attempt to blackmail gamers to use Epic Store

      What could possibly go wrong?!

    2. Hmmm, subscribe to Epic Store and download and install their client maybe? Tbh i could probably do that if they put a free game with multiplayer.

        1. What’s that got with anything me and lucben said? It’s not about reviewing the game, it’s a free game to download

          1. I use the word “score” as a synonym to “secure” or “activate”.
I wasn’t talking about reviewing the game, although the word score can be used the way you read into, so sorry about that.
If you “score” something, or “score” in general, it can also mean get a good deal.

          2. Ah, so you can download the game without the client or subscribing? Won’t they include the client in the installer?

          3. you can add the games to your account for later without downloading the client. downloading the game would require the client

      1. It’s rather embarrassing that you would need it explained to you, but I’m not about to. You’ll figure it out someday. Best of luck.

        1. Can’t explain why he’s doing a moronic thing like supporting one store complete monopoly on PC gaming, goes with the stupid “it’s too obvious to explain” pull out. You’ll fit nicely with the other geniuses in here.

    1. Part of me respects your idiotic loyalty to a couple for profit companies. The rest of me thinks you’re a fu**ing idiot.

      1. That’s funny, after reading your post the whole of me thinks your a moron. GOG and Steam built this fool. We know why Epic is hear years after the hard work was done by others. You should get a clue.

        1. Who cares which cames first. I’m customer, I buy from who’s cheapest and fastest. Paying more or doing without a product to show loyalty to a faceles for profit company is retarded.

Do you still by games at Game Stop? They were one of the first, smh. Being a fanboy of a company is stupid unless you’re an employee or a shareholder.

          1. It’s not about who came first, it’s about who got us where we are today and why devs consider the PC their most important platform today, Steam and GOG are the reason. Epic comes in after the hard work was done and starts buying games for exclusivity to their store, that doesn’t impress.

It’s loyalty to the two companies who have helped to build the PC from a platform that devs wanted little or nothing to do with to yes the PC is our most important platform to make games. Steam did this, that’s where the loyalty comes from and you’re either to young or to dumb to know this.

      2. GOG is DRM free, meaning the games can run standalone like they did before these useless launchers started: 100% properly. The stores, social features, etc. all useful but should remain separated from our games (unless we add them into these systems by choice).

Controlling access to our own games under these draconian launchers is meant to dominate the PC market and “console-ize” us into closed marketplaces for price control. It’s a scam since those even with DRM have Denuvo anyways regardless of where we buy them.

        1. I can fully understand buying games from GOG because their DRM free. I don’t understand only rooting for one DRM store over another.

  3. My Steam Library = 2340 Games
My Epic Games Store Library = 8 Games

My Total Spend on Steam = At least $4,198.70
My Total Spend on Epic Games Store = $0

      1. Steam surely is winning, i wonder how many Half Life 3’s they could fund with that kind of dough, but surely Epic is bad for trying to gain money.

        1. They could have funded 10 by now, but they won’t because they get money for do nothing now. They make money off the games of others. They don’t need to make games anymore. It’s why we need the competition.

          1. You’re letting facts get in the way of dirthurts’ ongoing seething irrational hatred and loathing of Valve/Steam. How very dare you challenge the inane ranting of an attention-seeking internet edgelord contrarian who gets off on sh*tposting.

          2. I never said I hated Steam. I have like 200 games on Steam. But, I also have Origin, I have Uplay, I have Epic, I have a PS4, I have a Switch, I have MS Store. I’m not brand loyal to any of these guys. You just can’t fathom that because it isn’t how your brain works.

          3. Not aiming to be mean. Just trying to make a point. Imagine it in a friendly voice, as that is actually how it is meant. I’m sure that doesn’t come across online though…

          4. Yeah, let’s hope. They used to make great stuff, but a lot of their talent has moved on.

          5. Why do you care? Just buy from who’s cheapest. You don’t do background checks on the store you buy shoes and toilet paper from.

          6. Paragon died. They would have kept it had people played it. They didn’t abandon gears of war. They didn’t own it. Microsoft did.
Fortnite is their only real IP they own that makes money. I’m sure they’ll work on more once their cash cow slows down. It’s a lot more than Steam is pushing out.

          7. You’re disrupting dirthurts’ anti-Steam narrative by exposing the hypocrisy of his seemingly eternal white-knighting of Epic Store.

          8. I’m obviously not white knighting anything. I’m simply offering a different perspective. You know this. You’re just being contrived.

  4. Bought this masterpiece on a bunch of different platforms already, and Epic (with publisher) pulling the same garbage with Metro like MS did with Rise of the Tomb Raider means I will stay very far away from the Epic Store for a long time.

Plus I just dont want my credit card info on yet another 100% useless launcher (PCs ran games just fine without them thank you very much) – especially after having my cc stolen online from a credible site and used. Fixed by my bank, but took 3 months and brought on a ton of headaches and massive stress. Being much more careful and consolidated with where my info goes.
