Yooka-Layle has sold one million copies on all platforms

Playtonic Games has announced that its 3D platformer, Yooka-Layle, has sold one million copies worldwide on all platforms. Yooka-Layle was released in April 2017 and it took the team more than a year in order to hit the one million milestone.

The game released on the PC with some major issues but Playtonic was managed to resolve some via post-launch patches. For example, the team has added a new optional camera mode, first-person aiming control options, new icons for keyboard/mouse controls, and the ability to speed through dialogue by holding Y.

Moreover, Playtonic is currently working on a 64-bit mode that will transform the game into something that could have been released on the Nintendo 64. Now while some will not like this mod, it will definitely appeal to those that enjoyed games like Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo Kazooie.

  1. Good game, I have no idea what some people are bashing it for, I tried it expecting some hot garbage, and I finished it 100%.

    1. Pretty sure it’s just mostly hype that destroyed it for so many. “From the creators of Banjo Kazooie” or “Banjo Kazooie spiritual successor” and that was it, people gave it all the hype in the world.

  2. It was sold in a humble bundle called Humble Day of the Devs Bundle 2018
and was tier 2. So i got it for ~5$+ 6other games. So from this humble
takes a cut, charity takes a cut, and the rest goes to those 7games. So i
bet they didn’t get more then 0.5$ from my and other sales there. And
min 100000 copies came from this humble sale.

  3. That’s pretty much good news for those like myself who love old school platformers. I should get around to purchasing and playing this game at some point. Here’s hoping the 3D platforming genre manages to find its place in the industry again. Things seem to be heading that way with the return of Crash and Spyro and how well this and A Hat in Time did.

          1. Which doesn’t natively support drives larger than 2TB due to its lack of support for GPT partition tables.

        1. Because I use my computer for more than just games and there is a still a massive library of Linux native titles, and even more that run via DXVK + Wine.

        2. And what’s it to you dude? Let the man use what the hell he wants to use. Him using Linux doesnt affect your in any way shape or form. I use Windows 10, He uses Linux, the next guy uses Windows Vista. What’s it to you dude? Are you the OS police?

          1. personally Microsoft is the F**king devil, but Linux is not really good for gaming
unless of course you’re using a dualboot system

      1. I mean I have to give them credit, the review copy I got let me play it on Linux before it even released. Going beyond even day 1 Linux support.

    1. Don’t forget the assassins creed games. They remind you every time you run it that it was made by a “diverse staff of all races and genders”.
