The Shenmue 1 & 2 collection releases on the PC in a few days and it appears that SEGA has removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from it. SEGA has been using Denuvo in pretty much all of its latest titles and this collection may be the first new release without this controversial anti-tamper tech.
Denuvo has been removed from Shenmue 1+2 on Steam, the reason is yet unknown. incompatibility? trend? we will see. pic.twitter.com/HaQBvCjJoR

What’s also interesting is that the Steam store page of Shenmue 1&2 does not mention Denuvo at all. On the other hand, other SEGA releases – like Yakuza 0 for example – have clearly listed Denuvo.
We don’t know whether this is a mistake or not so take this with a grain of salt. SEGA may implement the latest version of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech in Shenmue 1&2 at its time of release like Square Enix did with Final Fantasy XV.
Still, we really hope that SEGA will stop using Denuvo in its games and will remove it from older titles as more and more gamers will purchase games that do not feature Denuvo (believe it or not, there are lots of gamers that boycott games using Denuvo)!

Wise decision Sega .
Yakuza 0 was a really shoddy port that even the only patch it has is broken, so maybe just maybe without DENUVO a game from 1999 may run properly, but i still don’t trust SEGA.
Well, glad people have pressed Sega against the wall.
By the steam guidelines the developers are forced to notify in the Store Page if the games have any sort of 3rd party DRM.
This doesn’t mean Denuvo has been removed, I would wait for release date.

I couldn’t care less, if I like a game I buy it, I’m not going to cry nor complain like a kid and sure as hell not going to pass on a game I want because of it.
There are DRMs way worse than Denuvo (in terms of how they affect the costumers), people only target Denuvo cause it delays cracks, nothing more.
They will use it, if they don’t then it’s a compatibility issue (maybe ancient emulators?) and they couldn’t do it, not that they didn’t want to.
nailed it, since it’s an emulator based “remaster” Denovu wouldn’t work too well
lol, I really doubt it. removing a warning doesn’t mean anything, specially coming from sega.
Sega aren’t to be trusted at all in these matters so assume nothing. Remember that the last Sonic game had no mention of Denuvo on its store page throughout the entire pre-order period and then, on launch day, they sprung the nasty surprise on everybody.
If they do they got my money for this one.
