Someone has made an unofficial fan Unreal Engine Donkey Kong Country game and is available for download

Donkey Kong fans, here is something for you today. Igor F has created an unofficial fan Donkey Kong Country game in Unreal Engine. This fan game, called A Tribute To Donkey Kong, is a tribute to the classic SNES platformer, and is available right now for download.

A Tribute To Donkey Kong features 12 levels, 200+ 3D models, 20+ characters with 120+ animations, 1000+ new game assets, 400+ textures, 30+ particles effects and over 3000 lines of code.

This fan project is far from perfect. As its creator acknowledged, there are still a few bugs here and there, the controls are a bit floaty and some animations need some work. Furthermore, the physics could also be improved. Unfortunately, though, Igor F does not plan to bring this project to Unreal Engine 4 or work any further on it.

Still, we believe this is a great opportunity to play a new Donkey Kong game on the PC, even though it’s an unofficial one.

Those interested can download it from here.

Have fun!

  1. Nice to see. Also remember that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U) is available to play on PC via Cemu, Donkey Kong Country Returns (GameCube) is available to play on PC via Dolphin and that all the earlier iterations on SNES and Game Boy are also all available to play on PC via emulation.

  2. The video looked great until my retinas melted with the God awful bloom. Why do people insist on over-using it? Downloading anyway, to see what the demo is like. Vaseline at the ready (to smear on my eyeballs, for protection).
