It’s no secret that the Forza Motorsport 7 performance on NVIDIA’s graphics cards was a bit underwhelming on launch day. Since NVIDIA released a new driver that featured some performance optimizations for Turn10’s racer, we decided to re-test it. And we are happy to report that this driver indeed improves performance in Forza Motorsport 7.
For this re-test, we used the built-in benchmark of Forza Motorsport 7. At 1080p, we noticed a 20fps performance boost on Ultra settings (70fps minimum and 103fps average). At 4K, the performance boost was not that big, and was around 10fps (71fps minimum and 86fps average). For our 4K test, we used our custom Ultra settings (Ultra settings with 2XMSAA).
Still, and as a result of this brand new driver, the GTX980Ti was able reach the AMD Radeon RX580 in both tests. For comparison purposes, the AMD Radeon RX580 offered a minimum of 80fps and an average of 103fps at 1080p, and a minimum of 60fps and an average of 80fps in 4K.
For the record, this new driver does not resolve the game’s awful stuttering issues. These issues will be fixed when and if Turn10 releases a new patch for the game. And to be honest, right now Forza Motorsport 7 can become really unplayable due to its severe stuttering issues.
All in all, NVIDIA did a great work here as we’re witnessing a significant performance increase thanks to this new driver. Here is hoping that Turn10 will now resolve all the remaining Forza Motorsport 7 performance issues.

Oh spectro look how a stock 980ti destroy your xbox one x with just a driver update
Look at minimum fps because its more important. Nvidia improve a little max fps but minimum fps doesn’t change. You can read in article that PC version is unplayable
“And to be honest, right now Forza Motorsport 7 can become really unplayable due to its severe stuttering issues”

You point frametimes once again, not FPS..
What exactly mean this 99 percentil (frametimes in FPS)? I thought that this means, that 99% of all FPS (for XBOX One X in image above) were on 62.1 and above. And only 1% of all FPS were under 62.1. So that is good result. But it seams, that Radeon and GTX GPUs were tested with different visual settings so the results from Sp4ctr0 are misleading.
The 99 percentile is just a more reliable way to measure the minimum FPS. So it’s the minimum FPS.
He’s trying to make the case that the XB1X can match a GTX 1080 and beat a GTX 1070, hasn’t proven it yet plus Forza 7 is a rubbish port, with CPU issues that DX12 supposed to solve and even DX11 games have solved, so yes their code isn’t upto DX11 coded games. In fact Ubisoft games have better CPU multithreading and that’s saying something. lol
only the Xbox X does not have the same Ultra look as the PC version in terms of visuals / textures / reflections. Also Those benchmarks are done at 4K with 8XMSAA. Xbox X is not using any MSAA at 4K.
Also I have had it day 1 and I use a 970 GTX and a I7 4770K. The only stuttering the game had for me was in the menus but since the Drivers / Recent game patch it no longer does. At least not that I have seen.
Everything will be fully fixed once MS has turn 10 stop gimping the PC version with it’s 1 core at 100% usage just to try to make Xbox X look good
Again showing us that old graph before the game released and before that driver how convenient…besides minimum fps before the driver was 60 and now its 71fps. So in both cases still better than xbox one x.
As for the stuttering my dear sheep some pc players claim to not experience them and besides its only a matter of time untill it get fixed because turn 10 probably got ordered by your Microsoft overlord to make sure to cripple the pc version a bit to make the xbox one x looks better than it really is.
Unoptimized game and already surpassing your unrealeased console version.
Xbox one x:500$
Another controller:50$
Xbox live average console lifespan 5 years:250$
4k tv:minimum 400$
Total:1200$
And thats without counting the games that are more expensive on your crap box
LOL… 5 years of Xbox Gold = 240 free games. You have 4 games per month for free with Gold, 48 games per year. You need 7200 usd to buy 240 games on PC (average price 30 usd * 240)
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/438af9f85e50e9a8fa06860a70bf821fc182c8a5e0aedd6d72ffb483da2d2d5a.jpg
BTW… Xbox Gold cost 30-35 usd per year on many sites. I already bought keys for next 4 years and pay only 120 usd ( 4 years of gold with 192 free games)
You dont own those games, soon as you stop your XB Live sub they don’t work, same for PSN games. LOL
And why I should stop using Gold? I already bought codes for next 4 years (2021). I don’t buy it for multiplayer… i bought it for 48 free games each year. Its 2 new games every 2 weeks.
Again, you’re stupid, they’re not “free”, you actually pay for them and don’t own them. Free games on uplay and Origin, GOG on PC you own.
Lol the moment you stop your subscription you can say goodbye to those games…ah there is no guarantee the next console microsoft will release will have backward compatibility.
7200 usd for 240 games on pc? What about all the free games i got or games i bought from 3 to 10$?
And yet you pay for online on top of your internet service you already paid for.
And a blue ray player who needs that nowaday????? We are in the digital era and external hdd and streaming is the way to go for viewing video contents.
And you dont need a super pc to beat the xbox one x a ryzen 5/i5 16gb ram and 1060 6gb is more than enough for a better gaming experience.
And not every pc gamer buy a controller and probably not 2.
You need 2 because you need to recharge your controller each time or you can have just one and use batteries(another expenses)
And besides in the next 2-3 years the console generation cycle will be over and the next system will be launched and you will be left with an obsolete system while i’ll upgrade and keep all my games i accumulated those last 2 decades.
Sucker
“3 to 10$”
3-10 * 240 is still 720-2400 usd
Wow you are worst than religious zealot…or just a very dedicated shill i hope ms pays you well
You also need to add the cost of buying original Xbone at $499 minus its meagre trade-in value given that this pitiful console generation came in two instalments.
Also, no 4K TV currently features AMD FreeSync so to take full advantage of Xbone X then you’ll be spending a lot more money that the quoted minimum $400 on a 4K monitor featuring FreeSync and HDR.
The price of a (possibly overpriced proprietary) keyboard and mouse may need adding too given that Phil Spencer has stated that Microsoft will be officially bringing said control scheme to Xbone consoles.
Finally, add another 4 or so years’ worth of XBL mandatory subscription fees for the lifespan of this console generation for Xbone and Xbone X combined.
Why I need to buy old Xbox? New one is much faster. Do you buy multiple old GPU for your PC?
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/31d11a488e33bf6f7b54f7dae141e4770cadfc655e90abb1372dc06be59cc79c.jpg
So you believe that the majority of Xbox gamers skipped buying Xbone or Xbone S and will soon be buying Xbone X as their very first Xbone-series console. Take your meds…
I don’t care about old hardware… it doesn’t matter if this is old Xbox or old slow GPU such as GTX 970… Its history. Not very useful in 2017/2018
No, I don’t believe that at all. You, however, evidently believe that the majority of Xbox gamers skipped buying Xbone or Xbone S and will soon be buying Xbone X as their very first Xbone-series console. Take your meds…
I sorry but I don’t understand your comment
“I don’t understand”
Some things never change.
He’s saying that a lot of XBox users brought the XB1, XB1S and are buying the XB1X. In fact I know for a fact that people like CrapGamer are and have done.
Xbox1 – $499
XB1S – $250
XB1X – $499
Proper 4K HDR 10 TV – $600-$800
I see… I know gamers who bought in last few years GTX 560, GTX 670, GTX 970 and after that GTX 1070.
Is it bad that someone bought multiple GPU or consoles in last 5-6 years? Why? I don’t understand why it is bad. You buy one GPU or console… sell it and buy another faster. Why it is bad?
Except that’s not what you claimed, GTX 970 can sell for £150, buy a GTX 1070 for £400 = £250, using 4K DSR, plus all your games can play at 4K and no cost for XB Live plus cheaper games on PC.
He’s a pro of the stealth edit
He’s a “pro” in the same sense that PS4 Pro is pro-spec hardware!
At least the pro got some nice exclusives…while the xbox brand got nothing worthwile
Partly true. PS4 series consoles may have received a few exclusives but PS4 Pro specifically hasn’t received a single exclusive.
GTX 970 old and slow? LMAO, it can do 60fps in a lot of games, something that XB1X can’t seem to do and won’t be doing for old games.
I had a gtx 970 . And u know what i did ? I got one more gtx 970 for 130€ and i almoste doubled my FPS . So i made my pc rly stable for the next 4 years can your sh*tbox do it ? Nope ? Just like it cant play games at 60Fps
Next 4 years? Even now ypu GPU’s are vram limited, for example COD WW2 is using near above 8 GB, abd even cards will 6 GB are slowing down in this game.
Lots of ppl reported that the game runds badly even with 8GB vram . and if the game needs 8Gb then it need some optimizing .
and for 1080p gaming my setup is excellent .
There are so many games that use more than 4GB already, it was much better idea to sell that single 970GTX and buy 1070GTX instead. Of course you can always lower texture settings, so these two 970GTX should run games just fine. I have learned during the years, that more vram is more important than GPU speed. Somewhere around 2012 I bought 680GTX with 2GB vram and until I bought 1070GTX with 8GB vram that card was vram limited in most games, but speed wasnt an issue because I could still run console games with higher framerate and better details. Now I have card with 11GB, and seeing games with near 10GB vram usage on it really suggests me that developers will push VRAM requirements even faster this time
Well for my i5 3570k was the best way to go SLI. I. Can run everything almoste max settings above 60 fps. And there is no reason to upgrade more . When amd is gona give us some new GOOD gpu line up i build a new pc . But until i have 60 fps i am happy. Also i am poor AF
Yes but can it play Destiny 2 at 60 FPS ?
Quantum break at fake 4K and 30FPS as well.
Quantum Break – reconstructed 4K from lower resolution (like on Xbox):
– GTX 1070: 34fps (DX11) or 27 fps (DX12)
– Xbox One X: 30 fps

The Pc version supports HDR. There is no reason to compare the PC verison with 8xMSAA to the X Version that uses EQAA.
XB1X maximum, minimum FPS is 60FPS. Also in the demo I never seen my GTX 1070 drop below 60fps, it’s constantly at 72fps at 4K/ultra, also having a 144hz monitor I can take advatage of the higher FPS, unlike the XB1X. You can also seen in my image that the GPU usage is at 69%, so much for all the properganda image about XB1X only using 66% usage LOL
As for EQAA, which has been on PC AMD GPUs since 2011, it’s 4:2 EQAA on XB1X, so probably 4 coverage samples and 2 depth, just above 2xMSAA, this is actually below 8xMSAA and below 4xMSAA. 4xMSAA has 4 coverage and 4 depth.

Forza 7, Xbox One X – 66% use of GPU at ultra detail 4K 60fps
Xbox X is faster than GTX 1070, read interview with Turn10 lead developer. He said that 6 TFLOPS on Xbox is like 9 TFLOPS on PC
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f7fbe25966ec041c9307806f15f43c2050c1c6f20c81b52947c1ec1985ac4587.jpg
Which was XBX1 properganda because for one, PC can up the settings of MSAA to 8x while XB1X doesn’t take advatage of that extra 30% GPU, PC can. Also, PC is not limited to 60fps since we have unlocked FPS and 144hz monitors.
*Propaganda
I’ve got the word “proper” in my head lol
“Forza 7, Xbox One X – 66% use of GPU at ultra detail 4K 60fps ”
Nope not Forza 7 ultra, your screenshot is Forza Motorsport. 4K, 60fps, Xbox One quality settings with 4K assets…Oops…
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/b5726d7dafa3ae5809f465a87dbbd0e193c1a13d5a9842d7aac692b4eeb79ab4.png
“Xbox X is faster than GTX 1070, read interview with Turn10 lead developer.”
Yourself show us the opposite with the Quantum Break benchmark
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9b5dd5dbd1e6d1427702f2d2deffb71e48a1c5fcc5296fe079a3ceba524fe04b.png
According to your source , GTX 1070 can produce a native 4K with a framerate higher than 30fps whille on the X they have to use 1440p frames…Oops…
LOL.. Quantum Break don’t use native 4K but reconstructed on both PC and Xbox.
Wrong, you can turn “upscaling” off and get a native 4K image, see my link to my own screenshots.
Notice how he always cites that sketchy Russian GameGPU site? Never any respectable sites?
You realize that’s just a bunch of cars sitting on the track not doing anything, right?
3 year, 4 month old ‘DX12 not fully supoprted’ older gen GPU with no DX12 command processor, poor port with CPU multihtreading issues, beats “beast” XB1X, DX12 command processor, super optimised, super efficient, first party XB1X game. lol
Awwww look Spectro found a little friend.
I think not, maybe you miss read because I made it sound even more embarrassing for the XB1X.
Oops I somehow misread what you said. I guess he’s still one of a kind!
In order to beat xbox that benchmark should show above 90fps, not below, and not to mention stuttering issue. How many gamers will run forza 7 on that settings? Not even you, so I have no idea why you laughing
Once the X comes out it will be easier to make comparisons. The problem with Forza is that it’s hard to know what settings each system is running so it’s hard to compare. And obviously the PC port is kinda janky.
I’m more interested in seeing how Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and some other titles compare.
XB1X isn’t running at 90fps it’s locked to 60 and just because Microsoft made the claim doesn’t mean it’s relivent. Also it doesn’t matter how many run at those settings, it’s 1 more than XBX1. I also never made the claim I was running those settings, that’s just a pathetic jab by you all because you don’t like a joke, what’s up did it hurt your feelings for the plastic box?
With the same settings xboX average is 90fps, so performance looks similar now compared with 980ti, not bad for a cheap console.
“With the same settings xboX average is 90fps, so performance looks similar now compared with 980ti, not bad for a cheap console.”
Bring us the proof
And watch how multicore and frame stuttering will be magically fixed after sales slow on the xbonex and F7 because T10 and MS will vomit out the PR about care so much about PC fans – just like they patched FH3 a whole year later. “We care about the fans” though right?
Glad I didn’t buy this racing themed slot machine.
17FPS between 4K and 1080p in this game, LMAO.
As noted in the article, 1080p is with 8XMSAA whereas 4K is with 2XMSAA. This explains why the gap is not that big
So the ultra setting defaults to 8xMSAA? Both articles say nothing about 1080p uses 8xMSAA.
my default at ultra is 4x msaa. Good question.
This game engine does scale particularly well in resolution, though.
Thats pretty good, its basically the same textures just 4x the resolution. 4+4+4+4 =16.
My Nvidia GTX 1060 already asking for this new driver!!!
No stuttering here. 6800k OCed to 4.4ghz. 16GB quad channel DDR 4 3400mhz. 1080 FTW GTW OCed +100 mhz core +472 mem Power limit 120% and +85 core voltage. I play at 4k HDR. I have every setting maxed out including 8x MSAA and 16x AA. Ultra where applicable high if there is no ultra setting. This works with my display if I set to 60fps + vsync, and there is minimal latency that I cant notice anyways. The only tweaking I did after maxing out is my resolution scale. I play @ 135%. I heard people have it up to 200% but I don’t. My min in 56.x but my max is 61.x and avg fps is 60.0. My AB OSD never shows that min frame drop in the benchmark, so I dont know where that min frame happens, so I’m actually quite happy. I think this proves that 6 core CPU’s (or higher?) should be the definitive solution for frame rate stutters, as these same issues detailed in this article also where problematic for people with forza horizon 3. I played max and v synced 60 fps since the game’s (fh3) release with ultra settings as well. I did have stutters with 8x MSAA though with FH3, so the default Ultra settings even with optimization off and 4X MSAA gave me a fluid glass like, immersion experience I think people need to experience with twitch reaction driving. I also drive with 2 wheels. T500 and G920. (my t500 is back to thrustmaster for pedal repair on the pot). My great happiness with this release is, the game and wheel settings were practically plug and play. Meaning, I hardly had to change any settings at all for a very good driving experience. Especially with regards to cornering, and sliding/drifting. Rally is superb in this game and I am getting all the wheel scrub anyone could ever ask for. Great job Microsoft!
This driver was unstable for me on my 980ti. A few games kept crashing. Went back to 385.41 and it was normal again.
Rocket league is stuttering right now for me, no reason at all. It’s frustrating when you’re trying to be competitive 🙁
The most lame game on the market.
Funny I get over 20% more performance on my 970
I used DDU and did exactly what you described but Rise of the Tomb Raider kept crashing
Garbage PC. 980ti subhuman race.
It’s the same thing as a 1070 minus 2gb of vram and moreover I got it for a straight trade for a Radeon Fury, plus it’s a EVGA Classified and does 1500 on the core and 4000 on the memory.
have you played the demo?
Indeed. As dutifully reported at DSOG it took 8 months post-release for Forza Horizon 3 to be patched to the state it should have launched in and here we are all this time later witnessing a repeat of the exact same CPU-related issue in this latest Forza game.
It seems as though the Microsoft Studios-owned clowns over at Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games never learn.
Car handling isn’t that good in it. Also no Internet no game you couldn’t even play against AI in the beta when the servers were down
Nvidia Finewine. Maxwell not abandoned.
Nvidia, with these drivers, have made a great job.
Nevertheless, Nvidia can’t solve problem due to the lazy devs.
I am still very suspicious of the UWP format causing some of these issues. I mean… even the Windows Store version of CUPHEAD stutters.
I confirm that there’s quite a performance increase in Kepler as well. Now I can max out the game with x4 msaa in 1080p and get solid 30 FPS. When they fix the multithreading issue, I will try 60 FPS.
Has he said X1X is 4K native in quantum break lol? i blocked him so cant see him. Maybe you should tell him quantum break on 1X renders at 1440p with temporal reprojection. same technique used on X1
He just proved the GTX 1070 is faster in that graph, XB1X also drops to 27fps while DX11 GTX 1070 doesn’t. This is the guy that claims the XB1X is much faster, one paper it seems so, but in relaility so far it’s not.
Hmmm, so nvidia was guilty in some form.
Anyone tried Forza Horizon 3 with this driver? I think I’m seeing improvements there as well.
Standard xbox use dynamic LOD, but not xboX X
Are you an idiot? LOD by nature is dynamic.
Your disrespectfull comment shows what kind of person you are, because only immature person will behave like you when they dont agree with something. This game has dynamic optimisation system and additional LOD is part of that. Details in standard xbox one version looks sometimes more square than ps2 game because of that, just imagine square car reflectors instead of round. PC on max settings and XboX version dont have that problem.
I don’t like the tone of his comment, but you’re both misunderstanding what I’m talking about. The game has a dynamic optimization system (it’s not just LOD). If the game starts going “over budget” it will reduce the quality of some effects to maintain performance. That’s part of how the console version maintains such a stable framerate.
On PC, you can choose to set an option to either dynamic or manual. Dynamic can be set for a “target” an overall quality like High or Ultra, but will adjust down when needed to maintain performance.
The PC gamers are manually setting everything to the maximum, preventing the game from scaling anything down. That helps keep the visual at peak, but obviously has a performance impact because the game can’t adjust on the fly.
I responded that way because you clearly don’t understand what LOD is
