Assassin’s Creed: Origins expected to sell better than Syndicate, Rainbow Six: Siege surpassed 20 million registered players

During its fiscal call, Ubisoft revealed some new details about its current and upcoming titles. According to the French company, Rainbow Six: Siege has surpassed 20 million registered players, and The Crew now has 12 million registered players.

Furthermore, Ubisoft expect Assassin’s Creed: Origins to sell better than Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate but worse than Assassin’s Creed: Unity. On the other hand, the team expect Far Cry 5 to sell somewhere in the Far Cry 3 to 4 range (in other words around 7-10 million).

Moreover, Ubisoft claimed that The Crew 2 has Ubisoft’s highest ever beta registrations, and that the registrations for the first beta phases Skull & Bones have set a new record for a new IP title.

Ubisoft has also revealed the sales for Q1 2016/2017 per platform. As we can see, the PC platform has fallen behind both PS4 and Xbox One, with the PS4 leading by a massive 44%.

  1. R6 is dope. Still playing. Loving the love they’re giving rainbow. I hope they go for a Season 3 content.

  2. 20 million?! out of those 20 mill how many came in for the free weekends?
and how many of those 20 million are active?

  3. because ubisoft pc port is always worst than console port, but then how can then expect sell pc on no.1.

    1. Did you play Watch Dogs 2 and Ghost Recon Wildlands on the PC? They are both easily in the top best PC port + that we have from a large AAA company.

It’s 2017, Ubisoft is not the same company they where when they first showed Watched Dogs 1 or when they first added always online DRM to Assassin’s Creed 2 in 2009. Times change and so do companies, I think they deserve a little credit on how much they changed over the years. Can anyone say the same for Blizzard and Valve? I don’t think so.

      1. To be fair, Blizzard only started being a cancer in 2010, but yeah, it looks like they’ll hit the decade marker without a single sh*t given about how pathetic they’ve become, absolutely.

What’s so bad about Valve, though? Aside from how lazy they’ve gotten with content updates for Steam & their games? I mean, yeah, they’re lazy, but at least they’re not purposefully breaking their games after a few years so they can balance them with less effort, like “someone” else does.

        1. Well what does Valve do in terms of games? Pretty much nothing but maintain DOTA2, TF2, CSGO. Personally as a fan it really sucks to see them with all their money and resources and not make any new IP’s and games(none VR) over the years.

Sure they don’t owe anything to us and for that matter no game dev or shop owes anything to anyone but to sit on Portal 3, Half Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3 just sucks 🙁

You might as well just call Valve Amazongames, for they really are now just a big eCommerce shop rolling with Steam. Everything else is after thought. Yes you have to give them credit for the VR stuff, but in terms of just raw normal games it’s really just been maintenance mode(unless I am missing something). OMG don’t forgot the HL1 patch!!!! LOL 🙂

I am just a disappointed fan that is all, and I am sure millions too want HL3, P3, L4D3 and new IPs too.

Maybe I am crazy, but that is how I feel about Valve.

          1. “Sure they don’t owe anything to us and for that matter no game dev or shop owes anything to anyone but to sit on Portal 3, Half Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3 just sucks :(”

Agreed, but if nothing else, at least they’re not defiling their IP’s legacies with endless ever-more-degraded sequels that the Valve Defence League takes upon themselves to actively prop up no matter how sh*t they actually are, “because Valve!” 😛

I mean, yeah, I get your point, absolutely, but….. “lesser of two evils”? 😀

(It’s barely even maintenance mode btw, more like some guy doing something once in a while between stoner breaks).

    2. Ubisoft developed a reputation over the years as a mostly console oriented Publisher because that’s where they made most of their money and still do. Taking a look at the full 2016-2017 Fiscal Year Financial Report sales breakdown by platform

      PS4 41%
      Xbox One 27%
      Other Consoles 7%
      PC 18% (up from 14% in 2015-2016)

I am by no means excusing them for when they do release a poor PC port though. They make way too much money from us to treat us badly. Their sales were 1.685 billion dollars for 2016-2017 that means that around 303 million dollars in revenue came from PC gamers.

  4. The fact the abomination that is siege to the rainbow six franchise got so many sales pisses me off

    1. Just for the record, the “abomination” is that they used “Rainbow Six” in front of the word “Siege”, right?

But, yeah, good games sell. Go figure.

      1. Well, i dont like the game, guns have no recoil and it is all about camping/leaning till you see someone’s head popping out. Too repettive, not enough tactics and not enough action. Its a campfest sim in tight corridors. Id say counter strike takes more skill and is more fun, i would also say titanfall or the last 3 cod games are more interesting with their wall running mechanics. Too me siege is too repettive and booring. But hey if breaking a wall and peeking till someone pops up, if that is fun for you, ok, to me its booring BOOOOOOORING!!!

        1. – Guns have plenty recoil, unless you mean the Recruit, in which case, yeah, true.
          – Yeah, the camping thing is tedious, but that’s multiplayer. Ever tried Terrorist Hunt Mode? It’s great fun.
          “Not enough tactics”, though……

Wallrunning is fun, but it doesn’t belong in realistic tactical shooters, so yeah, separate categories entirely, really.

  5. “Furthermore, Ubisoft expect Assassin’s Creed: Origins to sell better than Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate but worse than Assassin’s Creed: Unity.”

Selling better than Syndicate is a given, considering how poorly Syndicate sold, but they actually expect it to sell worse than Unity? What, they have so little faith in the Egypt setting, or they’re finally accepting the reality of how generic their games are becoming?

    1. They can’t buy/deceive the investor with a trailer,If they do, they will lose their stocks 😀

      **
Anyway I hope the game will be great.

    2. Wasn’t unity the one with a ton of issues at release, one of the first new gen consoles games of its time?

      1. Yeah, it was the one with the inside-out faces etc. but launch issues aside the AC fanclub in general is pretty positive about it, so I guess it must have been good.

Though that’s a very good point, considering its launch status, how in the f*ck do they expect Origins to sell worse than “Assassin’s Creed: Someone Peeled My Skin Off!”? I mean, Unity did sell relatively well, in the end.

        1. “how in the f*ck do they expect Origins to sell worse than “Assassin’s Creed: Someone Peeled My Skin Off!””

My thoughts exactly. I love the far cry series far more than I do AC personally.

  6. After the e3 reveal i too am sceptical of ac origins selling much. Combat in gameplay looks so rough. Animations too are not upto the standards of an Assassin’s creed game.

  7. If you didn’t like black flag, one of the best ac game in the series (right after ac2 and brotherhood imo) then i don’t think you would even like any AC game.
AC origins while doing things that looks closer to games like witcher 3 is still at it’s core an AC game.

    1. People keep saying that, yet that statement somehow acts like Black Flag has anything in common with AC2 & Brotherhood, beyond a handful of elements that all the games in the series share with one another.

Oh & the IP name, of course. Sure, it’s a fine game of its own type, but it’s nothing like AC2 or Brotherhood, so I always find these comparisons to be absurdly moot.

As for ACO: it looks closer to Batman: Arkham than Witcher 3, to me.Either way, meh, but if they really did take a couple of leaves out of the Witcher Handbook, then good, it’s about f*cking time someone did.

      1. What he is stating is quite simply that Black Flag is widely considered as one of the best AC games.

        1. Sure, and if you want to rank all the AC games, that’s fine, but comparing Black Flag directly to AC2 &/or Brotherhood is absurd.

I loved AC2 & B, but I’ve never had particularly strong feelings for Black Flag, for example. It’s good, it’s fun, but it’s just not the same kind of game as AC2 & B, so saying “you won’t like them because you don’t like Black Flag” is ridiculous.

          1. personally ac2 was the best, brotherhood was great too ,revelations was ok, and black flag is why i stopped playing ac, it was the most borring and repettive with the worst character and main story.

          2. My one issue with Brotherhood: they reset all your unlocks, because some idiot figured “f*ck carrying over your progress!”

Revelations had a sh*tty story & some really bad colour palettes. Also, it was kind-of boring, wasn’t it? Black Flag was good, but…. I don’t know. I just never really enjoyed it all that much compared to AC2 & B.

      2. Yet apart from the navel gameplay everything else was common to previous AC game including AC 2 and Brotherhood.
People can keep denying it but black flag as soon as the gameplay shifted to land it was all over an AC game.
Sure the combat mechanics were improved(imo) and some controls were dumbed down but at it’s core it still played like an AC game.

        1. “People can keep denying it but black flag as soon as the gameplay shifted to land it was all over an AC game.”

To a degree. Besides, we can nitpick specific sections of the game all we want, but overall, it always played more like a spinoff than a main entry.

    2. Good man black flag was the last ac game i played. I fully admit i dont like pirates but its sooo godamn BOOOORING i mean seriously all the enviroments look alike, it does not have a good story or a good main character and you keep doing the same things all over. Id argue ac2 and brotherhood had more variety and things to do. Or even revelations.

  8. Regardless of the Ubisoft hate train some have I am personally really looking forward to Origins, it was probably my favorite game at E3.

With combat like Zelda BOTW + DS, APRG gameplay, RPG vibes of Witcher 3 and core Assassin’s Creed gameplay I am pretty pumped for it. Also I really love the Egypt theme, the look of it, the graphics, detail and draw distances all look really good.

I am ready to roll with a triple screen config and my PC on Ultra.

        1. No, I’m just trying to figure out where he sees Dark Souls-type gameplay in the footage we’ve been given so far.

          Or even Zelda-type combat, really.

Is that so hard to understand?

          1. It is obviously not exactly the same but, there are clear similarities there. I suggest you watch more game play or pay more attention to it.

          2. From the videos I’ve seen combat now seems to have some type of lockon, blocking with a shield and dodging instead of the counter-everything-instant-kill of past AC games. I can’t tell from the videos if you have to commit to each attack like in Souls games though.

          3. Yeah, I can see the sword/shield & treasure looting similarities, but I’ve never seen the lock-on mechanism in a video? Unless you mean the big white dot that pops up in the middle of your screen, but that seems more like a targeting thing than a dedicated lock-on-to-this-one-enemy-type mechanic.

Either way, I doubt U-BE-SOFT will risk attack commitment-type systems, as they’re a little more advanced than what your average AC fan is used to with AC. Actually, I think riibhu’s comparison to Witcher 3 might be more accurate, overall.

          4. In the video I saw, the camera and Kang’s facing seemed to follow the enemy as if locked-on.

          5. Hm. Maybe controllers have a sort-of lock-on mechanism to aid with turning? If so, I wonder if they’ll carry it over to m/k, as well. Interesting, I’ll have to remember to look into that.

          6. My friends(and some are game journalists) that played the game at E3 all described the weapon combat as Zelda BOTW + DS and that it’s totally new compared to the old button mash and win God mode that it used to be. This is why I mentioned it, I did not go to E3 and did not play it my self just saying what my friends said that where at E3 and played it.

I was actually shocked that they said the combat was the best part of Origins and they enjoyed that the most.

    1. Kiss ubi’s a** all you want mate, but don’t compare any of this s**t to Witcher or any other decent games out there.

  9. I heard it was because of hats. The engine is old, so having that many more objects would exceed the object limit. They had to remove objects from somewhere else.

    1. I think that’s just an excuse the fanboys & Valve Defence League are parroting around, honestly. Someone probably mentioned it as a joke on Reddit or a YouTube comment or something & it became the go-to excuse, as I’ve been hearing about “hats” since the very first day that the Crowbcat video went online.

      1. Yes, it may be an excuse of fanboys, as well as a benevolent attempt at explaining this weird downgrade. I don’t know enough about the engine to be sure.
Who knows, though? They may eventually port all their games to Source 2. The CS:GO’s transition to it is already underway.

        1. Good point on CS:GO, in which case, who knows, maybe if Overwatch starts eating into their hat market a little too much, someone will get incentivised to get up & do something about it……. Hopefully.

  10. Right, good point, I forgot about that.

But aside from that? I mean, CDPR’s got bigger markers in my book than Valve, unless I’m forgetting something major, here.

  11. As usual, U-BE-SOFT is probably banking on the Assassin’s Creed Fanboy Cult to prop up their sales figures, instead of opting to “humiliate” themselves by shifting the release date slightly.

I am rather worried about how much Wolfenstein is going to get affected by Mario & A$$ Crack, though.
