IO Interactive has rolled out a new patch for HITMAN that has removed its Denuvo anti-tamper tech. We don’t know whether this removal was done on purpose or by accident. After all, we’ve seen in the past other developers rolling out patches for their games without the Denuvo anti-tamper tech, only to re-implement it later via another patch.
This latest patch for HITMAN also comes with level design, AI and UI improvements in all missions and contracts in the ICA Facility. It’s worth noting that due to these changes, previous game saves in this location will not be valid.
Here are the rest of the changes that have been introduced to HITMAN via its latest update:
- Global Hints
We’ve added a new system of global hints that will explain some of the game’s mechanics to new players.
These can be toggled in the settings menu and are set to ‘On’ by default. - The Adrian Eclipse
We’ve fixed an issue that could cause this contract to be ‘failed’ unfairly. We removed it from the game in March and now it’s back in. Find it under the Paris Destination. - Bootflow Options
We’ve tweaked the bootflow of the game with a new background and shortened the time it takes to get into the game. - Suit Only, Hunted
We’ve fixed an issue that could cause the ‘Hunted’ state to apply to 47’s suit, even if he was wearing a different disguise when compromised. - Bareknuckle Boxer
We’ve fixed an issue that could make it impossible for 47 to poison Novikov’s drink in The Showstopper during the ‘A Drink to Die For’ opportunity. - Steam Achievement Localisation
We’ve updated the localised names and descriptions of the Steam achievements . - Menu Tweaks
We’ve made minor tweaks to the overall menus, especially the Options Menu to ensure consistency when selecting buttons.
We got in touch with IO Interactive in order to find out whether the removal of the Denuvo is permanent or not.

1 step at a time 🙂
i will never buy a game from io interactive again
Known pro-Denuvo troll, ignore the baiting, please.
Thank you.
if a developer refuses to support it’s legit customer, it’d be better if we as customers boycott that trash developer, all it takes is couple of complains then they start giving this game for free to pirates, what about us legit customers, the only one who got hurt here are legitimate customers who got scammed by that abomination of price policy
Denuvo sure… but directx 12 ? I don’t think so…
Then again, Square Turds did put Rise of the Turd Raider on the Windows Store, maybe they wanted to do the same with Hitman?
They are free from square enix so of course now they can make logical decision.
Kudos to IO interactive. Hope they will bring us new and exciting new ips too along with Hitman.
Exactly, I hope they fix the offline play then it will be perfect.
I have not played it in a while(been waiting for fixes), maybe the offline mode has been fixed?
To be fair the game was cracked loooooooooooong ago. It might be that they can now remove it of their own choice, but it’s been irrelevant for months
Obviously they cant afford to pay for it without square enix especialy since its cracked.
Can’t, or just don’t want to? 😛
They want to have online saving though.
Do they, however? I mean, maybe it’s not a choice for them – yet. After all, dropping Denuvo is obviously simple enough, but re-coding a game not to stream various assorted pieces of data from a server, but instead directly from your hard drive, that takes rather more effort.
Ergo, only time (or an official statement, really) can tell if they actually want to keep the always-online mandate, or if that will also away, alongside Square Turds’ other various moronic edicts.
Largest obstacle? The largest obstacle is the always online progression and the elusive targets
Are you sure that thing didn’t give problems cause of denuvo?
It could have, sure.
Single player content locked online got nothing to do with denuvo.
What if those online feature get locked because the game can’t establish to denuvo servers? Wasn’t denuvo an online drm?
Ya, but they never locked content as far as i know(aside from the whole game that is).
I don’t know either, mine was a theory, i just thought that the problems it has with single player online content was strictly related to denuvo, and it was something like this as i heard, but well i don’t really know firsthand
It could have, sure, though it’s far more likely they just coded it sloppily. Remember Blizzard with Diablo 3? Part of the problems was how many people were trying to connect to those over-stressed servers, but other issues also stemmed from the actual “streaming data from server to hard drive” implementation, itself.
Maybe that, in conjunction with Denuvo further aggravated the situation, but it’s mainly the data streaming thing, in the end – always.
You cant save your unlocks offline.
Are they going to? Because on Steam (at least for me) all the individual episodes are listed as “N/A” and you can only buy the entire first season.
Ohh look now if they just removed garbage episodic nonsense I could actually buy the game
since it’s complete, the game can be played mission after mission like it was a normal game
I wanna buy a full game at day 1 after I wait till full release I forget that the game existed and I dont care about it anymore
All episodes are available and have been for a while now
Eh Denuvo wasn’t the problem with Hitman – it’s the “live” component that still is. I absolutely hated it how every time there was a major update (mostly an elusive target) I couldn’t play a singleplayer game because goddamn internet servers were down for half a day. And no, there are no majikal technical barriers that would prevent adding singleplayer content to a singleplayer game – especially when so called “offline” mode completely disables all content I’ve spent so much time unlocking that is right there in the game’s folder and not online.
and the funny thing is pirates have figure out a way to acess that content.
bad…very bad….piracy won again!
idiot
Block him, also yes, the game is complete now, i’m thinking about buying it now since denuvo is gone
Allegedly. I see no reason for them not to be working on further content, after all.
Well, never say never, but they’re selling the complete pack, etc, so i guess i must be finished, but again, never say never
More specifically, they’re selling the “COMPLETE FIRST SEASON” bundle, which means this could very easily be them attempting to get as many people caught up before they launch Season 2.
Yeah, but i expect season 2, to be a new hitman anyway, either episodic or not
I think they’ve invested far too much work into this game to just abandon it in favour of a sequel. More likely they’re just going to invest the necessary time & effort to retool the existing game into something better, at which point they’ll likely make a big show of relaunching it.
They’re definitely moving away from the episodic part, though Season 2 will most likely be at least partly episodic nevertheless due to how much time & effort has already been invested into it, but other than that, yeah, it’s not part of their long-term plans for this, absolutely.
Though, that does beg the question of what direction they will be going in, instead, indeed.
No its not it saves your progress online and only online.
yeah i’ve already done it
as for the game i’m tempted to buy at 21.30$ on G 2 A
might grab it later this week
lol, bet he was from squenix
or roleplaying somebody from squenix
a lot of roleplaying faggots are still squenix fanbois
Game has been cracked for months b!tch!!
bad,for example look pillars of eternity is coming to console, lol pc gaming lose another exclusive for piracy!
That why iam surpsied that they didnt remove it at the time it got cracked and took months to remove it.
It took months ro get cracked and i bought it on November because i didnt want to wait for it to get cracked.
Alright you have my attention…
is this game finally complete?
Depends how you define complete. Season 1 is, but season 2 is coming as well.
I’d settle for them working on taking it offline first, then they can figure out “Season 2” at will.
The always-online unlocks and ratings were my number 1 problem with the game right from the start, much more than Denuvo or the episodic format. And my number 2 problem would be with the way elusive targets work (timed online events that disappear forever). For an exclusively single player game, this is complete BS.
Agreed, though I always figured irregardless of Squeenix’s presence, the elusive targets would most likely be patched back in once they lost interest in the game, so while that was (is) indeed aggravating, I always considered it an overall secondary issue, personally.
“I’d settle for them working on taking it offline first”
I downloaded the recently released demo yesterday & on my very first play the game wouldn’t connect to the servers. D’oh! Oh, Square Enix.
Exactly that is my biggest beef over everything else and really my biggest issue that made me not buy it initially.
I bought it to support a dev I know that works on it, he is a cool/good guy.
Man, I really hope they add a complete offline mode that would own.
I just convinced a couple of people to buy due to the great discount & the fact that IO’s getting all the profits, indeed.
Sadly I did have to mention that it’s still an online game, which didn’t make them too happy, but eh, great discounted price, regardless.
Denuvo is nothing but a security blanket to make dumb corporate executives and share holders feel better. Good move IO, now just make it fully playable offline (if this doesn’t do that already).

It not being fully playable offline is honestly the only thing that ever has (and still is) held me back from buying the game.
Same here.
Can you stop posting this dumb gif, it was boring like 1 year ago
And denuvo doesn’t have shareholders because it’s not public…
EA does. EA funded Denuvo.
Sony does. Sony funded Denuvo.
U-BE-SOFT does. U-BE-SOFT uses Denuvo.
Square Enix does. Square Enix uses Denuvo.
WB does. WB uses Denuvo.
ZeniMax does. ZeniMax uses Denuvo.
Dumb Corporate Executives (yes, that’s their official title as far as I’m concerned) use it because they think, due in large part to Hollywood Anti-Piracy campaigning, that “every download = a lost sale”, so in order to fully implement the “Standard Cover Your A$$” tactics that are so prevalent in public companies, they go so far as to not only buy licenses for, but also fund ridiculous endeavours like Denuvo “Anti-Tamper.”
Especially since there’s always one or two board members that’ll ask “so, what are we doing to counter illegal downloading?”
Also, yeah, sure, he’s used it too much, so-the-f*ck-what?
I’m still trying to believe that the free Hitman thing wasn’t just the demo.
Please someone here confirm to me that we can download the first episode entirely from some unkown link.
Downloaded 19 gigs on the PS4, it must have some hidden option to enable it.
And why PS4 has 19gigs and PC just 6 gigs?
uncompressed files?
Really, never happened to me to be fooled on that level.
They marketed a demo as a free content???
and the online BS.
so who’s gonna pick their cotton?
I’ll consider it at decent price tag, after all DLC is out, and online only restriction is removed
Great news overall but for me Hitman never had Denuvo as the Linux version never had it to start with. Linux gaming has it’s perks sucha s being Denuvo free from the get go.
