It appears that Paradox Interactive has increased the prices of its games in certain regions on Steam. The publisher claimed that this was not an error, it was done intentionally, and it was done in order to match the purchasing power of those areas.
As Paradox Interactive stated:
“As you have noticed prices for our products have increased in certain regions around the globe and this is something we’ve intentionally done. The reason for this is to make our prices match the purchasing power of those areas, as well as create a more equal price point for our products across the globe.
Our prices have remained pretty much the same for several years and it’s only natural for us to re-evaluate price points at regular intervals based on the strength of various currencies, fluctuations in world markets and many other factors. This is something that all publishers do and we are no exception.
Sadly this means that the price has gone up for certain regions and whilst this is something we’d like to avoid, it’s necessary to keep our price point more in line with our other markets. We sincerely apologize for any frustration this may cause and hope you can understand why we are doing this.”
Ironically, Paradox Interactive increased the prices of almost all of its titles, even those that were released 4 or 5 years ago.
Naturally, this frustrated a number of PC gamers who flooded Paradox Interactive’s games with negative reviews.
Whether Paradox Interactive was greedy or not remains to be seen!

Still better than using the useless denuvo
the 3 cracking groups that crack denuvo are on a rampage lately, they hunt down every denuvo game released and crack it.
Three?
cpy, baldman and steampunks
have they cracked dishonored 2 yet?i bought it since it came out, performance was utter garbage, i just want to see if denuvo free version runs better
Just checked scene release is june 5 but the way they “cracked” it was by using denuvo tickets, so the cracked version still uses denuvo. If you change your hardware you need to get another ticket. Also dishonored 2 was updated since then so the legit version runs better.
what’s denuvo tickets
Denuvo issues tickets so you can play their games, at some point it checks with the servers. The cracking method that was used with dishonored 2 doesnt check with the servers. So dishonored 2 still has denuvo in it.
And the new cracking group haven’t touch ubisoft and EA games..I wonder why???
new ubisoft games? Like wildlands, new ea games like???????? Andromeda? They have. So wtf you talking about?
Wildlands???not cracked..and andromeda is cracked by cpy,not the other two group that i mean.So yes, they havent touch by the new group
Everyone is claiming they hyped the prices for the greatest discounts during steam sales. Whatever it was, the backlash was huge on steam….and more than deserving.
No idea about the Steam sales, but they’ve got a Paradox Interactive Summer Sale going on right now.
Yeah, coincidence…… it happened right after everyone on Steam going to town on them.
hey, the discount price is zero, ziltch, notta since I’m gonna pirate the games and cleverly word my hints about it on the discussions for each game that I pirate during the middle of the sale lol.
But do you say it like that?
If you think what they did is bad, avoid their work.
If you can’t because you like it that much, buy it on a discount and put a crack to prevent metrics of it. It will let them know what a fair price for their product is.
If you can’t buy it, pirate it if you need to, but don’t do it like this. Please, don’t speak it with such fervor. It hurts us, the PC gamers.
What they did was wrong, but it needs to be addressed and dealt with consideration. What you just did, says nothing about those devs, it says a lot of you. Please, help us all, don’t make us to be like this.
If I have already finished it, or am in the middle of playing it free, why on earth would i suddenly throw money on it let alone the fact that it tells them that it was okay to do this? I will pay the equivalent in the average conversion rates of currency to the rest of the world, but i will pirate it if I am expected to pay what equates to more simply because they discriminate against being in a wealthier nation. It makes them come across as a bunch of disgruntled, envious little commies from a third world country. F’ them and their bs, I’ve had enough of little b**ches like them and unfortunately for them I am entirely in control of this exchange and I will exercise that control by never paying for anything from them again. I’ve had enough of little commie bastards like them.
And you have to add BS to their BS? You’re basically saying that their game is good, thus advocating for it and against PC gamers by demonstrating piracy openly and without fear of reprisal.
At the very least, keep that for yourself. Do not promote piracy like that. I F’king hate that I bought over 100 games since February of 2016 and people assume I’m a pirate. If you can’t pay for it, play it, but at the very least support the devs you like in any way you can. But to flaunt your attitude like that, you’re only saying to them that you like their work and all they see is “We did a good game, he’s stealing from us!”. You’re not helping anyone, not even yourself.
Which regions? Eg eastern europe or middle east?
A forum post dated May 17, 2017 lists the following countries as being affected by Paradox Interactive stealthy price hikes;
Brazil
Canada
Chile
China
Colombia
EU Countries
Hong Kong
Ind?a
Indonesia
Japan
Malaysia
Mexica
New Zealand
Norway
Russia
Peru
Philippines
Saudi Arabia
Singapore
South Africa
South Korea
Taiwan
Thailand
Turkey
UAE
United Kingdom
Not sure if “EU countries” = Eurozone, or European Union.
Note: GOG pricing has also been affected.
As you can see from the link below, one of the admins responded with the quote linked above in the article on May 18th. They seem to have gone mum on the issue since.
https://forum – paradoxplaza – com/forum/index.php?threads/price-increase.1022680/
one thing that is good about switzerland region is that you know you will always end up paying the most no matter what so you can’t complain
And yet here you are, complaining…
do you know what complain means?
Ignore the known troll, he’s just baiting.
Most of those are poor.
hahah UK, because why not?.
Yeah I won’t be buying much from them if they want to kill the prices in the UK. I’ll end up going for them deep GMG discounts if I ever need a game from them.
“if only they could just set one price the world over and be done with it”
It won’t happen unless there is fixed income all over the world. You can’t expect to earn 10 times the wage of a certain country for the same work and yet pay the same price for commodities which folks in aforementioned country do.
Demand more from yourself, your fellow workers,Bosses,Owners,Government…. If you accept mediocrity you get what you get…
“Demand more from yourself, your fellow workers,Bosses,Owners,Government..”
Demanding more sounds more socialist than capitalist.
You probably don’t understand what’s being talked about so please go through the comments again.
Not really. It’s the truth in quite a few developing countries.
“(a game full price here is 1/10th”
What kinda argument is that? Games are 60 euro, you are the richestin the eu, most countries make 300-400 a month not over 1500 you make.
Also forget g2a, check ourt isthereanydeal.
Paradox is a NO BUY company for me so whatever, but doing it right when Steam Summer Sale is about to start smells…funny.
“…as well as create a more equal price point for our products across the globe”
All seemed reasonably worded until that cringeworthy PR spin. They’re trying to justify a price increase as being in the interests of equality. Puh-lease..
Yeah it’s not like they’re gonna lower the Western European Euro price for Poland and other poor Eastern European countries.
Like Southern Europe has it any better off. The Euro has been a blight on those economies for almost a decade, now.
20-25Euros for 8 hours of work 😛
friendly PC publisher, no more
Raise the price just before a sale. Classic scam tactic.
Like every Black Friday in my country…
Yeah… that’s why they did it with a press release and only for regions that up until now enjoyed preferential treatment.
Raising the prices? What are you talking about? They’ve just lowered the prices on ThePirateBay?! It’s always been on sale over there and other torrent sites. Stick it to the man folks. Hit them right square in the jewnose when you pirate the games. Especially their flagship titles. I just realized why jews have those noses. They keep being punched in it when they try to jew people like this. And to think we were once this close to a world without these sort of shenanigans.
“Ironically, Paradox Interactive increased the prices of almost all of
its titles, even those that were released 4 or 5 years ago.” Why would that be ironic?
Old games normally get cheaper over time, not more expensive.
DSOG desperate for news?
I read about this weeks ago, very old news.
Paradox has really gone down hill since going public.
Lies all lies they just want more money
Paradox are a bunch of dicks about prices.
last sale they changed the % of discout of Stellaris mid-sale and without warning, and they have the dare to say to people who complained “nobody cares if you buy stellaris or not”
“purchasing power”, huh that’s a new way of saying “I do what I like”.
Also the Steam sale is on soon as well as the one over on GMG, can you not Paradox?.
This was a error looking at both perspectives.
Who cares I can’t think of a single game of theirs that I want to buy or play.
Obsidian uses Paradox as a publisher though, sadly.
What do they make then that bothers you?
Pillars of Eternity 🙁
PoE 2 is on the way………
“The reason for this is to make our prices match the purchasing power of those areas”.
What a load of BS. My purchasing power only decreased in the past few months. My country is amidst a political and economic crisis, where politicians rob the people blind and we have no hope for a better future. And yet, now we have to pay twice the price for Paradox games… F* them, I say.
“for no good reason”
Like I mentioned elsewhere, the fact that you earn 5x times more as well is a pretty good reason.
So, punish the successful and reward the failures….lol….and many wonder why the world is falling apart…..BWHAHAHAHA
Better finds your safe space, and wait for the participation awards while you are at it!!
They are not “punishing” you, they are raising the prices because they can, dont support them.
No one is “rewarding the sucessfull” or “punishing the faillures”
Thats not how economics work. If anything your own companies will outsource to cheap poor countries because they will work for less than you.
Slowly those “failures” will make more money and live better and you will lose money and live worse.
You dont get to choose in what kind of country you are born, you are not part of the sucess of the failure of your country. You did not choose to be born there not to get a bad/good education and bad/good wellfare or bad/good wages.
At any point your job is out for the taking in the free market.
Isn’t it funny that corporations have a hassle free access to cheap labor while we consumers are getting locked out of cheap markets with stupid region and geo locks.
If they can employ workers with chinese grade salaries why can’t I buy videogames at chinese level prices?
Wut? I’m not really sure you understand economics. Please look up “purchasing power”. This is not about successes and failures. People are paid different amounts for the same damn work due to income disparity in different countries. Then it’s a given that spending power will also differ.
P.S. Also please don’t bother responding if you aren’t educated on the matter. It’s a waste of time otherwise.

This is quite an old story. Prices in the Indian regions have almost doubled for all major Paradox titles few years ago.
I’ll
tell you this. This is the best way to kill any interest in the games
that people want to try. The friends who don’t own it have dropped it
off their wishlist, and are going to 3rd party sites instead.
Only
good thing I see is that at least Paradox had the decency to tell the
reason, unlike Ubisoft who increased their Indian rupee prices from
50%-150% overnight.”

If publishers keep increasing their prices in countries where people’s purchasing power isn’t increasing, it won’t help. Which is pretty much what those quotes said. I don’t really play any Paradox titles so I can’t talk about about their pricing, but Ubisoft did increase their price a bit compared to their previous releases, that’s true. More importantly they stopped selling boxed copies, which means the only way to buy Ubi games would be through their store via PayPal or through Steam. Not really a feasible solution for everyone.
You can call it what you want and frankly it doesn’t change anything. If you’re talking about the same product and same price then we should also talk about same work and same income shouldn’t we? If your point of contention is that you’re paying more while others pay less, others’ point of contention is that you’re being “paid” more while they are being paid less. There is pricing disparity because there is income disparity, simple as that.
As for smart consumers and keysites, that’s not the issue here.

rip..lmao.
damn filthy paradox
Ironically they’ve also just increased the piracy rate if you’re in one of those areas. it’s not about whether or not some communist was correct about me having more “spending power” it’s more about the fawk you I’ll be giving back to them when I don’t pay for anything more of theirs that I play. Like Bethesda/Zenimax and Take#2/Rockstar. God all of the free games I will be playing later this and all of next year LOL. I think I may wind up only paying for kingdom come and that interesting open world game where you play as a wraith. And agony, depending on the developer/publisher. And mount & blade 2 out of the games I’m interesting in playing. Don’t bother wasting money on denuvo, you’ll just increase the piracy rate yet again and only delay the release dates by days to weeks since denuvo is nothing in the end. And while I have purchased denuvo games (some time into release when the cracked version was then available so it was by my choice) they were proven to have decent performance or had demos that allowed me to try them first hand. Like Doom, or DA3 in which I watched alot of videos on it, decided I would like it, and bought it 2 days after knowing the cracked version was then available. But while I have done that, I generally avoid other games with denuvo since they rarely perform as well as mad max/da3/doom have for me. I usually wait to pirate them, then realize why they had denuvo to begin with when I decide they’re garbage (arkham knight) and delete them.
Just realized I’m gonna need to pirate Pillars 2 if paradox is the publisher. I’m sorry, Obsidian, hopefully you will choose a better publisher in the future. “The sins of the publisher are visited upon the developer”. I happily bought the first one, but I’ll be playing the second one free if Paradox is still involved with it. I’m very salty these days and happy to jump to the pirate trigger since I’m fed up with the greed in the industry and being treated like a fawking sales figure to a bunch of greedy scrooge mcjewnoses. I don’t have control over much in my life that screws me over, but I do have control over whether I pay for something or not when I use it. Especially something digital. At this rate I won’t be paying for many games outside a few multiplayer or mmos at all any more within a couple of years lol. Literally won’t even need to log in to steam any more except for the very rare multiplayer game. I just thought about this, and it felt really weird to me. I’ll just stop paying for things now and save it all and every quarter look at how much that I set aside every time I would have bought a new game. Then I’ll throw it into parts or drugs or something once in a while or maybe buy stocks in EA.
