Artist ‘Mark Holubowski’ has shared a video, showcasing what a Rayman 3 remake could look like in Unreal Engine 5. For this project, Holubowski remade the entire starting area, and the results are quite impressive.
Unlike other fan remakes, this one features proper cut-scenes and gameplay mechanics. Just like in the original game, Rayman can jump, collect coins, and battle enemies. It’s truly one of the best examples of what artists can accomplish with these fan projects. Seriously, the artist even remade some of the game logic like movement, combat, and point system for collecting gems.
The first video is a complete walkthrough of the project. It shows the game’s graphics and its gameplay mechanics. The second video compares the original version with the remake. This video demonstrates how much the graphics have improved with a modern game engine like UE5. The artist has also retained the art style of the original game. So, it’s quite impressive what he’s managed to achieve all by himself.
Sadly, Holubowski has not released this fan remake to the public. As with most fan remakes, this was created for portfolio purposes. Yes yes, it’s a bummer we can’t play it. However, these videos show everything you could possibly discover in it. So, make sure to watch them. This is by far one of the best fan remakes we’ve shared.
Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. A few days ago, we also shared an amazing remake of Toy Story 2. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Oh, and don’t miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it’s pretty impressive. Earlier this month, we also shared fan remakes of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and GTA 3, as well as an Uncharted fan game. We also have a fan remaster of Unreal Gold in UE5. You should also watch the full-on remake video for Final Fantasy 9.
Need for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk’s Underground have also received some cool remakes. And if that’s not enough, there are fan remakes for Death Stranding, Fallout 4, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s Solitude, Grand Theft Auto 4, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Fallout 4, Resident Evil 1, Skyrim’s Winterhold and Silent Hill 3’s Lakeside Amusement Park. There is also this Studio Ghibli stylized teaser for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5. So, lots of UE5 fan remakes, right? Well, since they’re all really cool, we suggest giving them a watch.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Paid for guerilla marketing, epig buys their way in and their engine is no different. You’ve either got to be a working dev to do this or a very dedicated hobbyist and I can’t imagine the making of games is that fun from that side. Imagine doing this for a resume, may as well use those skills to make your own short game try to do your own thing instead. But the buzz of a known ip and comparing isn’t there for clickbaiting-ad revenue etc smh no wonder games industry is where it is.
He is doing a great job. I would play this.
Now this looks good.
Do you know what Rayman is known for? Dark desaturated graphics
Those “realistic” looking assets detroyed the game.
Did not bother watching the video what is the point if it will never be released.
that’s a long way to write “I am an idiot”
I don’t know how the original developers feel about this, but I don’t think everyone is happy with this.
Rayman was created by illustrators and it’s their character, their world, their vision, and it has a certain nostalgic value to players.
Someone just recreating this in “Unreal Engine” in 3D doesn’t look good, it’s not original, and it’s just riding the tailcoats of someone else.
I am sure he has every legal right to do this, and it’s not about that, it just feels weird that you take someone’s creation, just change it completely and use it to make money or fame from it. Because this isn’t about being a fan of these games, this is about using an existing IP and idea, to give your own project leverage.
You Realize Rayman 3 was already a 3D platformer right? Same with Rayman 2.
Right, you’re correct. But that was still within Ubisoft, or with the blessing of the creators.
This is someone not involved with Rayman, taking the IP, and then using it as leverage to further their own goals.
Again, not about legality, but it feels weird. I find it odd how common this has gotten, and maybe morally questionable when it involves some creators asking money for their projects, or wanting monetary rewards through views on Youtube.
someone sounds jealous they dont have the talent or the skill to do this so just sh*ts all over it. Get over yourself, it’s an impressive piece of work.
People who does these fan projects rarely gets famous or rich, go concern troll something else.
I don’t see a problem with this. I’m not too keen on the way this looks but it’s a fan project. If they’re remaking it from beginning to end and intend to release it to the public then I can see why the IP owners would see an issue with this, but it’s likely never going to be complete unless it’s a collaborative effort.
People on Etsy and other shopping services sell their own handcrafted work (mugs, keyrings and other ornaments) based on existing properties like this and make money from it. For some reason I never hear people complaining about that.
Even if the person behind this made it just to promote themselves and increase their chance of being employed in the industry, it’s still a project that isn’t harming anyone. Especially a multibillion-dollar corporation who clearly don’t care about their own properties any more.
Please note the ‘could’ so not actually finished.
Damn, the original held up well. Have to play it.
Gee, DSOG crowd has changed a lot since last year.
They used to be like “uuuuugh John, will you stop with the UE5 demos???”
And now they all look excited like little girls.
This is only a project for a guy’s portfolio, and we’ll NEVER get to play it.
This looks impressive, fair play to someone who actually takes the time to make something like this. Even if it never get’s released they should be proud of what they’ve accomplished.
It looks decent and worse at the same time in my opinion. Graphically it looks amazing but stylistically it looks bad for a Rayman game. It just lacks the charm the original has. If they remade this game and it ended up looking like this I’d rather play the original tbh. That game still holds up and looks unique to this day, just like Beyond Good & Evil, another Ubisoft game with stylised visuals which could easily be butchered with it’s upcoming remaster.
Could be nostalgia speaking but if I look at games like Psychonauts 2 I just don’t get that same feeling. That looks authentic to its truest sense whereas this doesn’t. I think the main issue for me is the lighting and character models. If you look at 0:25 into the second video you’ll see what I mean with those two comparison shots. It completely strips away the bright and colourful personality the original has in favour of a more dull and realistic lighting. It’s the same issue I have with the Crash and Spyro remakes.
kudos for putting so much effort into this but it really does seem to miss the magical atmosphere Rayman has imho.
I think the creator has done a fantastic job
These are the kind of projects that get you hired. Especially now that more and more big dev companies are starting to implement UE5
There is a reason why nobody uses realistic graphics for a platformer.
It’s hard as hell to see the platforms.
