NVIDIA has released a brand new official RTX gameplay trailer for Remedy’s supernatural title, Control, showcasing its real-time ray tracing effects. Remedy will be using real-time ray tracing for reflections, contact shadows, diffuse global illumination and transparent reflections, making Control one of the best showcases of the RTX tech.
Control is powered by the Northlight Engine and will be also using a new physics engine. Remedy will take advantage of PhysX in order to enhance the game’s interactivity and overall destruction. As such, players will be able to interact with numerous objects and cause havok.
Two days ago, Remedy revealed the game’s official PC requirements which were quite high. The team recommends an NVIDIA GeForce GTX1080Ti or an AMD Radeon VII for its non-RTX version, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080 for enabling the real-time ray tracing effects.
Control releases on August 27th and we are really looking forward to. After all, we still consider Quantum Break one of the most advanced games on the PC so we are curious to see whether Remedy has improved the visuals and the performance that its Northlight Engine can deliver.

“Quantum Broken: part II – Control”.
That’s just wrong; and you have no notion of Control. Superficially it might look like Quantum Break … just because it has the same graphics engine and Remedy style.
But the gameplay differences are fundamental.
Linear vs. Metroid Prime Open World
Massive cutscenes like in a movie vs no cut scenes alias Half Life 2: completely different kind of story telling
Only main story vs many side missions
Science fiction fighting with soldiers vs. Psycho Horrer with supernatural opponents / partial zombie artig
Quantum Break has 10 times more to do with Max Payne, Alan Wake, Uncharted or Last of Us than Control. At least core gamers should be aware of that.
And yet people compare it to Quantum Break even thought they are, as mentioned above, completely different and not comparable games.

Interesting they switched from Digital Molecular Matter back to Havok.
Reminds me of a game I once played called Psi-ops… It wasn’t that great and honestly this game looks about the same. Control just doesn’t look like a fun game unless you are 15. I don’t quite understand why the high pc specs too… the indoor environments don’t seem to have much going for them. Im guessing it’s to power all the shadows in the plain world? This game requires shadows to hide the game. So it is forced… hence the high graphical requirement.
Why do they make the floors extra shiny in the raytraced version ?
Also, seems like this game will look gorgeous with or without RT reflections. The benefit from RT is nice, but the game will look very close even without.
Still nice to see more and more games supporting RTX. It’s about time we got raytracing in games.
